Hey Hemlock- i read this somewhere:
Cold
Cold weather (below 50F/10C) can lock up phosphorous. Some varieties, like equatorial sativas, don't take well to cold weather. If you can keep the roots warmer, the plant will be able to take cooler temps than it otherwise could.
i now have snow outside and apparently its down to minus 3 at night- the plants are in the garage so it will protect them from frost but not the cold generally, the purpling on the plants is getting worse since it turned cold. When the lights are on at night the temp is 50 degrees and my meter is reading about 35 (1 degree celsius!) at its lowest when the lights are off in the day.
Im going to have to put a heater in there i think, but all i have are convector heaters which basically will send my electric bill soaring!
Oh Aye!!!!, they would recover nicely...Is gonna get down to 60 F tonight...Time to bundle up...had a look at them but they appear to be expensive and i cant afford it at this time of year
they could do with having a holiday at yours lol

Thats so not fair!!!!!! you evil man!!! lol
I'm sure you do,,,,, sounds like some tuff weather for you the rest of the week...Sorry..awwww i want to be warm again! lol
Yay my organic PK booster arrived together with some fresh bloom nutrients. Im hoping this will help combat the nute def i seem to be having with the plants. The LSD's are showing alot of purpling still which is progressing up the plant quite alarmingly with stunted new growth so of the 1-3 ml instruction on the bottle i decided to give em maximum dose of the PK booster in hope that it settles down a bit. The PC's are pale and showing potassium def in older leaves however new growth is coming out a nice deep green, so i dosed those slightly less. runoff is around 6.4 but my temperature issue is my main concern. This morn the temp was -6 outside!!!!!! Although in a garage the temp is about freezing lol so ive put a heater in, however this seems to have upset the hygrometer and isnt reading- which indicates the humidity is less than 30%- arghhhh! fix one problem and you get another!!! what to do now? the heater is a temp fix as its a convector type and i can only imagine its wolloping up my elecricity bill as we speak- i've seen a small oil filled radiator type heater which uses only 450w so i think ill buy that to help keep the chill off, any thoughts to if this is a good idea guys?
thanks

Im here on my way to bed. How about u dry ur washing in the same room, drying clothes indoors always up my rh>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>casey and bubble im all out of ideas now lol
mornin ms P,
id be very careful how much humidity you put in there with this cold. if it drops you could totally frost your girls. ok firstly is there any way to seal the garage up or ast least restrict the airflow in there to a minimum? tape cracks in doors vents etc. the purpling i wouldnt worry about too much as youve still got new growth shooting out the tops, the yellowing from the bottom is a classic sign of overwatering. id say drop your nutes a little and water less. how often are you watering? if possible and i know it will be a chore try and do a half feed in the mortning half later. the oil filled heater is a good plan if possible get one with a thermostat, it might cost you more but will give better average temps. crazy as it sounds you could try putting the thing inside the tent if its dropping to -3 at night in there?
im guessing you must be uk somewhere to be suffering it this bad? its damned cold in newcastle but so far ive managed to leave my heater out of the op, my vegging girls are suffering tho.
ttfn ms p
Hiya DST hun, sadly i didnt see this until i instructed the other half to get the oil heater- however seems to be doing trick atm fingers crossed now to try and get on top of these suspected deficiencies lol Storage heaters- i remember those from my parents cottage LMAO! still bloody frozen unless i elected to sit on one to get warm lol and yeah growing these babies seems to cost a bloody arm and a leg lol- almost the cost of a real one it seems atmHey Agent, I use a tropical greenhouse heater when the temps start going haywire. Basically you just turn it on and wait till the temp in the room hits what you want then turn the thermostat down until it switches itself off. When the thermostat senses the temp dropping down below the previous set temparature, it fires it back up again....you can get these things relatively cheaply...prob at places like argos etc in the UK. 20 quid or so.
Re RH, with the cold weather your RH outside should be fairly high, I know this sounds daft, but if you can pull some of that cold air in there will be plenty of moisture in it. I know it seems daft to heat the room and also pull in cold air, but that will def keep your RH stable. Alternatively I use to live in a tenament block in Glasgow with storage heaters - the bain of the poor - that just pumped out dry air. I use to leave a bowl of warmish water sitting on top of each radiator and it would vaish rapidly. It's a pain to keep filling them but it will work. Plenty foliar feeding as well (but watch for Powdery Mildew!!)
Good luck with it all. Gives a shout if there is any other way we can help you spend your money on yet more products, haha.
Peace, DST
