I am using an Aerogarden spacesaver 6.
- 2 extra airstones
- FloraNova Grow nutrients.
- distilled water
- 1 small fan
- closet grow
- 24/7 light cycle for now.
It's been like 5 weeks. Last week I was noticing nutrient burn and yellowing on the bottom leaves after I used the flora nova. I flushed it for a week in distilled water. the new leaves dont show any burn. I just added new water and the recommended flora nova (at quarter strength). Any suggestions? I dont plan on adding more lights till I get some dough.

You're might be doing a number of things that can cause problems. I saw the more compact Aerogarden space saver 6 and I declined it because of the lighting and size. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it has only two CFL's, not three? How high will the arm/light stand go up? Also, how far do you have the lights away from the tops of your plants? A/G recommends 2 inches because the cooler CFL's won't burn your plants at that distance and they they have to be that close to be effective. What's the capacity of the reservoir? My old seven hole units only hold 112 ounces each. Now let's look at the variables that might be giving you trouble.
1. You're growing in a closet and there may not be enough air circulation. You might want to investigate adding some CO2 to your vegging plants. There's a neat video clip on You Tube on how to make a CO2 generator out of an old 2 liter soda bottle with baker's yeast, sugar and water.
2. How often are you checking and correcting your pH? Regardless of who's nutes you're using, if the pH is off they can be locked out. It's recommended by the people who taught me to correct the pH daily and change your nutes every week.
3. You might try to cut the lights back to 18/6. 24/7 is pushing them pretty hard.
4. How many plants are you growing in that little unit? The larger seven hole unit can accommodate two to three but three is pushing it. You might want to rethink how many plants you're trying to grow.
5. Last, but not least, what do the roots look like? I like a lot of clean white roots. You might want to consider using a root tonic. If they're tan to brown that could indicate a whole variety of problems from: nutes to algae, etc. When you change your nutes do you wash your reservoir? I also noticed you're closing off your unused holes with what looks like golf balls. I tried that years ago and it didn't work for me. Golf balls have a dimpled surface and they don't seal well enough. Light can leak in to start an algae bloom in the reservoir. What does the inside of your reservoir smell like? If it smells like polluted water you have an algae bloom. A/G has engineered plugs that will do a much better job of closing off the light into the reservoir.Good luck.
If the flush solved your problem then it sounds like your nutes may have been the villain.
