Advice needed on Grow Lights

Hi all!
I'm new to growing and need the following advice please. I have a small grow room that measures 3.75ft x 1.3ft x 2.4ft (my wardrobe).
I have painted it matt white and am now looking at buying lights for my room.
I have decided to buy either a 400w or 600w ballast, lamp and reflector for which i intend to grow 10 AK48 seeds.
For the size of my room will a 400w be better than a 600w as i believe the 600w may get too hot? I will be adding an extractor fan too!

How many of the 10 seeds are likeky to be female?

Help me please!

The more light the better, as long as you can control the temps. that area sounds small. you can count on 50/50 female/male. i grew 4 and got 4 female, a little luck is involved here. bad and good, just hope for good luck.

Firstly, you'll never grow that number of plants in that sized space - it's simply too small. You should work on about 1 square foot per plant, your square footage is about 3 square feet, (assuming the highest figure is the height) but it's narrow so the maximum I'd try in there is 2 or 3 and that would be pushing it. Try germing 5 or 6 seeds and hope for 2 or 3 females, but it'll be crowded in there before you know what sex they are. In normal conditions, you should get 50/50 split of female/male.

Your height is also a major problem, because you have to factor in the depth of the grow light and the distance you can have it from the top of the plants. Forget a 400w or 600w, that's just madness in that tiny space, you'll fry them. You need to be thinking in terms of a 100-150w HPS or MH system or even better - high output compact flourescents like 125w or 200w Envirolites.

The height of your growspace is going to be a limiting factor for you as to what you can do.
