Okay so I am a first time grower, any suggestions on a feeding schedule. My girls have 2 sets of true leaves, about to go into week 1 of veg. Any sort of advice on how much to use per 5gal smart pot would be beneficial.
Do NOT do that. That's just ridiculously bad advice without knowing anything more about your grow.you should add "mother earth tea" from Advanced.
Great white is a awesome product. You have a good combination of nutrients so far the only thing I would add is Sensizym and Great White to substitute Voodoo Juice and Piranha
im new as well, but know a bit now. you should get mykos or great white. itll make the roots grow out little roots on the side, i think... and the roots does not naturally do that. also, the hydro owner said that Overdrive is a must. and if you want to have bushy colas when flowering, u need some brand of Plant Growth Hormones(which is banned from California, cuz it is said to cause cancer) so thats your call if you wanna put that. i topped mines a little bit late and now regret it; so you should look into that if you plan to top. i LST 1 without topping and it looks just like my topped ones, flowering now but cant really tell if LST is better or not. it looks better though, for now.
i have a nute question as well if anyone can chime in... is it a good idea to use big bud and dutch masters potash+ together? or use big bud for weeks 2-5, then potash plus for 6-7? the hydroshop owner said they do the same thing. and on the label of big bud, it say to put it for weeks 2-5(i think). and the label for potash plus say to put it near the end(weeks 6-7). so is it a good thing to continue feeding the plants this kind of nute that bulks up the plant all throughout the flowering stage? also, if it is ok to feed it all throughout, should i just feed it only big bud throughout?
the label for the potash plus fits perfectly on top of the big buds label. which is why im wondering....
i was hoping to find a list like this. i didnt start this thread, but im new as well. i wanted to know what KEY nutrients the plants need. like nutes for bulking flowering(big Bud), nutes for sugar(Bud Candy, which the hydro owner said Liquid Carboload was a better option for sugar, is it really cheaper like you said?), and nutes for the roots, then enzymes(which ive been kinda cheap on that and leave it out, doesnt seem important). But im growing soil. im guessing i dont need the Roots Exelurator?Theres some good advice in this thread thread actually. If you want to make it easy and make it come out good your first go then a PH perfect line is the way to go. I use AN Sensi A/B and like it a lot. You can grow two ways IMO, either try to become a botantist and save some money or plug and play and pay a little more. Ive been doing this awhile and adjusting PH is annoying and just another potential way to mess your shit up. I also agree to not waste your money on additives your first go either, all you really need is your base. That said there are some additives that are worth the money, most do something good but Im a bang for my buck kind of guy so heres what I like at the moment.
1) Big Bud and Overdrive - great flower enhancers.
2) Great White - benificial bacteria to help the roots, seems like a cheaper and better version of voodoo juice/piranaha/tarauntala
3) Bud Candy - sugars feed the bacteria from great white turbo charges them. Thats it, its not a taste enchancer contrary to stoner legends. You can replace this with cheaper carbo load stuff if you want
4) roots exelurator - rooting hormone, its awesome.
5) Rhino Skin - silica add, its realtivly cheap and makes the branches stronger
6) Drip Clean - helps prevent salt build ups in your system.
7) Sensizyme - helps break down dead root matter and resistance to disease. Hydrozyme and cannazyme are the samethings I think
I also like AN products B52, Nirvana, Bud Ignitor and Bud Factor X, but if Im feeling poor I skip them and I definatly wouldnt recommend buying them for a first run.
One more piece of advice is that I would use Coco. Starting with a sterile medium takes all the guess work out of it. Water it like soil, feed it like hydro. Start 3/4 strength and keep the medium moist at all times. Blumats or auto pots are worth looking into.
Good luck.
First off I need to stress that you do not need any of those additivees to grow great weed. If you just buy the base nuts, Sensi A/B (or other brands) you will be fine. Im just saying that some additives really help, some are snake oil, and some help but arnt worth the cost, figuring out what is what is the hard part. Also anything beyond the base nutrients is a complete waste of money if the rest of your grow enviornment is subpar. Ventilation, humidity and temperatures are completely key aspects to a grow. Spend your money of these first and foremost.i was hoping to find a list like this. i didnt start this thread, but im new as well. i wanted to know what KEY nutrients the plants need. like nutes for bulking flowering(big Bud), nutes for sugar(Bud Candy, which the hydro owner said Liquid Carboload was a better option for sugar, is it really cheaper like you said?), and nutes for the roots, then enzymes(which ive been kinda cheap on that and leave it out, doesnt seem important). and for the Bud Candy, you said the sugar turbo charges the bacteria from Great White. does that mean you feed Great White constantly? i thought you only need to use mykos once. i have Extreme Gardening Mykos, the non-soluble one, and used it only once. and is Great White better or the Extreme Gardening Mykos Wettable Powder better?
Kind of. Soils usually come prefertilized so you don't want to add much till thats used up. I always had a hard time getting that part right. Soils also hold nutes better so you feed less and just give it water more. Something like nutes, water, water, nutes, water, water, etc. Hydros and cocos you give it nutes every watering usually, or change tanks once a weekish.is soil-less the same as soil when it comes to nutes and theories etc ?

My 2 cents is of all of the additives to consider b52 will actually help you over come plant stress ( from too much heat or under/over watering etc) because it is 5 kinds of b vitamins and kelp (good for flowering too). I like it for a boost in veg as well when they are getting established (used at 1/2 strength when they are very young). I concur that big bud and overdrive as suggested are the best flowering additives from AN for a basic program. You could get a very respectable result from sensi bloom, big bud and overdrive.I also like AN products B52, Nirvana, Bud Ignitor and Bud Factor X, but if Im feeling poor I skip them and I definatly wouldnt recommend buying them for a first run.
cutting fan leaves.....? im not sure if that is good. from what ive seen, the fan leaves for the respective branch helps grow that branch. but im not certain..I humbly suggest you need to focus on maintaining proper temp and humidity, light spacing, and generally learning how to care for the plant. You will get more out of practicing your plant care skills like mastering training techniques like topping, FIM'ing, supercropping and trimming fan leaves in week 3 etc than anything you buy in a bottle. If you do nothing else but top them once and focus on creating the optimal environment you will be rewarded with a happy plant and a harvest you can be proud of. It may not be huge but you will let the plant express it's genetics and you will learn what it likes and doesn't like. These "girls" are like woman ( no offense meant ladies), some are fat, some are thin, some tall or short and some are easy going and some are a real pain in the ass to please. The difference is that they all will please you in the end if you take care of them and give them the basics. If your relationship with them is based on your flashy car ( nutes) and not how you treat them you will be disappointed in the end. If you put the time into really watching how they respond to inputs ( temp, humidity, light, water etc) you will learn way more than most. Not tryin to preach but we spend a lot of time talking about nutrients and sometimes lose focus.
Lots of excellent advice here on rollitup. Make the most of it. Good luck!
