About to Start a Summer Project and Need a Little Help

This summer I plan to use some of my extra time to grow a batch at a house I'll be staying at. It has 4 bedrooms and an outer building that would be perfect opportunity since I will be living there for about 4 months.

I've spent the afternoon reading and reading and still have a few questions.

I am planning to use the other building as well which already is fitted with florescent and is big enough to house about a dozen plants. Only problem is, unlike the bedrooms, they won't have A/C and during the summer and it can reach temperatures over 120 degrees. I plan on setting up ventilation but with the way the building is made I will be lucky to keep it below eighty during the day (I'm not installing a window air unit or anything, I'm renting). My question is, what strain would be the hardiest in this situation? I had read on the how-to sticky that keeping co2 high will help the plants grow better. Would that be enough to help plants cope with the extra heat?

If it is too warm then I just won't use it. I wouldn't be upset if I couldn't.

Also, what are good low maintenance hard-to-mess-up strains that won't alert the neighbors? While everyone around knows me, I don't wanna have the place reek just a couple weeks after I move in. I plan on filtering, but it still worries me. Also, I work odd hours and wanna make sure that there isn't anything I can't put on a timer.

I'm sure more things will come up as I go along but this is what I need to know and start now. I move in a month or so.

Well if you plan on using co2 you can get it up to 85 F, you'd want to def use a Sativa strain of some sort. (Just look up some Asian sativa strains, or even some african) Also, just get a small AC unit for 100$ 5k BTU. Doesn't matter what strain you use to "alert" neighbors, them seeing you constantly going in and out of the shed will make them wonder more if anything, I honestly wouldn't suggest growing in there IMO, security risk. Why can't you just grow in your room? You said your roomates know about it, you'd be better off buying a grow tent or making your own. Then you wouldn't have to worry about neighbors and nosey friend of a "friend."

oh yeah, and it really won't smell until your into your first week or two of flowering for the most part. I'm not even using my carbon filter right now and I just switched over to 12/12 last night. (Have to use my fan to suck out the hot air from my cool tube, I too am battling heat. At one point it got up to 97F but now I'm at 85F exactly, Co2 sealed room. buying a new fan for the filter later this week)

Heres one of my Bodhi Dream Lotus, she was able to withstand temp of up to 90F but started to show signs of heat stress. (Even with the co2) Now that I got the temps down to 85F shes doing great, in a 6 x 6 inch rockwool cube, little over 2 feet tall. (Just switched to 12/12 last night, she will more than double in height.) She also was topped 3 or 4 times, bushiest girl I've ever grown.

All the sativas i've grown have been dense and not fluffy. Buds get fluffy when the temps are too high and are stressed out, at least thats the impression i've been given. But yes, indicas are def easier to grow.

I second this.
I just finish an AK grow and she was pretty damn dense. Used 400w MH(Veg)/HPS(Flower).
I also agree with just doing it in you're room with a more controlled area. Unless you're trying grow 12 or so plants.

He could go with just 4-6 in his room using the scrog method, hes got 4 months there so he could easily veg for almost 2 months. As long as he gets an 8 week strain that is, and gets his seeds going before he moves in under some CFLs.

How many indoor grows have you got under you belt? I like to seal off my room completely with panda film, and have a zipper entrance to help with bugs/odors, as well as hooking up a carbon filter obviously. If you have ducting sucking the heat from your lights and disposing of it through your filter OUTSIDE the room, that should help a lot with the temps rising too high. It's gonna be hard without an A.C., especially if it's on the 2nd floor. Blow fans between the plants and the lights to keep heat at bay for the plants' sake, and provide adequate circulation for the rest of the room as well.

This CAN be done, don't lose that motivation yet.

I'm not sure which strains are low odor, but searching for low odor strains on google will bring up a lot of options for you. Put a lock on the door and make sure it's sturdy incase any landlords come in by surprise. By law they need to give you 24 hr notice though, make sure you read the lease agreement incase they try to bypass this for any reasons. I've had to disassemble an entire flowering/veg room back in the day when my landlord had to get an inspection done - it wasn't too hard but it was a lot of work for those 2 days of making it look like a normal room and hiding my plants in uhaul truck for the night. All my vegged plants went into flowering but I luckily got them to revert back to veg... hopefully that won't ever happen tho! Just be aware that those situations are possible.

I'd really consider tossing in a window-mount A.C. to help with temps, they don't cost much more than $100 and can make a world of difference! Remember, plants don't like temps over 90 degrees and will slow their growth dramatically after that. It sucks them dry of their water and the roots start to suffer a bit. Is there any reason that you aren't feeling the A.C. unit?

You got this homie, keep us updated on this grow!
