A talk about "Hippies"

Alright. So I want to start off with the past, but PLEASE don't cling to this part. It is a very small part of what I have to say. A "Hippy" in the past was just someone that was within the culture. They didn't necessarily believe in the ideas that were taking hold. A person considered a hippy may have believe in the ideas. But not every single one did. Some even now say, "I was just really high, trying to have fun, and being stupid." But, that's because that individual WAS "Really high trying to have fun and being stupid" And that individual was not thinking ANY deeper than that. So even in the past the term "Hippy" was not the best word, not to say that there was a best word. There was just words, not "good" words to describe everything well.
There were Yippies, Hippies, Stoners, tweakers, Acid heads, and more words probably lost to history. But a lot of these words are used interchangeably today.

These words are not interchangable. These people may do similar things, and may have similar ideas. But they are all different things.

"Hippy" is used and was used very generally. Someone who wears peace signs a lot. or someone who simply has long hair, or smokes a lot of weed. A cop can smoke a lot of weed.

The MAIN question I want to ask is...

What The Fuck is the deal with EVERYONE thinking Hippies are driving around in prius's, and other little shitty cars?

People call me a Hippy. White people say I look like Jesus, Mexicans say I look like Shaggy, Black people say I look like young Snoop. I don't like being called a hippy. But I look like I look, and my clothing option doesn't help, but I'm not walking around in tie die or peace signs. So a long haired stoner is a hippy?

I want Three Vehicles:
A little boat, for travel (maybe upgrade eventually)
A Bus (Like semi modern school bus)
And an old Cady Deville

So I just want to let everyone know. There's more than just "Hippies". And even if noone cares that there are more things, PLEASE stop generalizing it as in the arena with someone who's going to gloat over you because they recycle and drive a prius.

This has come up with smokers. That's why I feel it might reach the right ears by being posted on Roll it up.

Real hippies are quite cosmic, you can tell them when you see them its something to do with the way they think not how they dress up etc :) People do have a habit of calling people hippies they call me one too but thats just people saying things :)

No, Hippies aren't the thinkers. When you fit the description you just gave, you don't label yourself. And you definitly don't call yourself a "Hippy" (maybe some, but very few).
Like I said before, Hippy never really meant what people act like it does. SOME "Hippies" fit that description. But not a lot. Most hippies are/were about being "in" with the real revolutionaries and thinkers.

I walked away from the drum circle where I was playing digeridoo naked with a gourd strapped to my junk to join in this thread to say...
Cut your job and grow your hair!

i never concern myself with what most people say.

why?

cause its the 10% idiots that say it, its only if you start reacting to it, when the 70% sheep follow.

example, walkinto a room with 2 people, 1 idiot and 1 sheep.

the idiot says "hey you have silly hair"

i just look at him like he´s a fool.

he gets silent,

the sheep never says a word.

now if i had started defending myself.

the idiot would not have relented and the sheep would have bah´ed in (safe, on the stronger side, joins in to be part of the herd)

Nah. Hippy is an old "racist"(derogatory?) word to describe the people jumping on the bandwagon.
A "real motherfucker", may have been labeled as a hippy. But would have considered themselves an Acid head, or revolutionary, or disciple of Leary/Kesey, or a Yippie, or something NOT a hippy. The Beatles were hippies. But they weren't REALLY doing anything. I mean MAYBE you can consider them "real" and this right here may be the reason for the whole hippy mislabeling. But John Lennon was really the only "real motherfucker" in the group. Who else wanted so badly to change the way the world did evil, that they risked getting shot for it? None of them. The rest of them were hippies.

I love John to death, but he was returning from a shopping trip and a lunatic shot him in cold blood. I don't think he was risking getting shot at that time any more than Ringo did when he went to the store for smokes...
That said, John was the only real motherfucker and I think Mccartney and his wings can suck it..

an environmentalist signs a petition to keep a tree from being cut down ~ A hippy would chain themselves to the tree

I didnt grow up in the era but when I think hippy I think radical, nonviolent, drugs, free love (sex), and hairy women

YOU CAN RUN THEM ON VEGGIE OIL!!!!!!

Is that what diesel is??!?!?!??!??!?!

That is an amazing thing to know. If I get a bus instead of a deville, I can not only carry many many people. I can get FREE FUEL from restaurants?!?!?! (Or at least really, really, really cheap)

I didn't know the exact situation, I just knew he was "assassinated" He was the only one struggling for something bigger. He was so caught up in change that he even declared himself to be Jesus while tripping on acid. Not that he was at all. But that proves har much he was thinking different to the times. He felt like Jesus did in his day. He identified with Jesus.

But there were just the sign wielding "hippies" back then that did nothing deeper, and thought nothing deeper than, "let's get high" "Let's go to this protest I heard about". There will real people staging real demonstrations. Look up demonstrations in the 60's. There were some real motherfuckers, with some real ideas, for some real change. The Yippies, The Diggers, The Up Against the Wall Mother Fuckers, The Black Panthers, The White Panthers, The Merry Pranksters.

And these are just FAMOUS ones. There were MANY MANY more. History doesn't talk about much, and we don't teach our children about the revolutions that their grandparents took part in, if it didn't finish.
Everything has been skewed for and by the public. It's all looked at wrong, and narrowed.
