Hey everybody, I'm posting this to newbies, like myself, who have wanted to get into organics but don't know were to start. I claim to know nothing really in general about organic growing, but have learnt and read ALOT, from various sites and users on this forum.
I built my soil, about a year before it went into my growing totes(20gal fabrics). The soil was composted with various amounts of dry amendments(blood and bone etc..) and locally gathered inputs(seaweed, sea urchin shells, homemade EWC, etc..).I didn't add any coco or peat, I outright forgot. Just perlite maybe 30% overall. I didn't really measure amounts of Amendments just handfuls of what I could find that roughly followed coots mix.
I accumulated what cover crops I could get and just used those(clover, veitch, etc..)Once the cover crop has established I just chucked the seeds in(bubba kush,2Xgelato og, and something else)and once the ladies are about 2weeks in I blanket the cover crop with mulch and stems and just use tap water from start to finish.
The thing about organics is it makes you appreciate the living soil, and what wonders it does over time. My two first grows in these totes were not so good, but overtime it has corrected itself and is starting to get some microbes pumping. This entire grow has been tap water only. I've added a bit of blood meal and hand watered it in, az the ladies are fading a bit. I don't think I've done any teas either.
I have made tons of mistakes and will always be learning from this plant. If you ever try organics don't get discouraged, as it can be a hit an miss especially while learning LEDs at the same time. This grow has been by far the best, and fingers crossed I make it to the finish without any effin problems. There not the greatest but im pretty stoked with how they are so far. Thanks to everyone that helped out, and a shout out to Northwood for your wisdom, knowledge and help on this special plant we all love
