I am courious about this as well. So if i read this right. In the the beginning and through veg, it helps with roots and leaf growth and then in flower it helps to ripen the "fruit". So keep a piece of carpet or cut leaves in the veg cab. The issues with the flower room is it helps to ripen the fruit faster. So you have to time it right to get the yield you want then put it in to ripen it. Now someone like my self a continues grow, My clones, mothers, and plants vegging are all in the same cab. So adding the carpet or cuttings will be no problem. The flower on the other hand will have multiple stages going on so unless i set up a seperate room (not possible at this time) i cant do this for the ripening. It does seem interesting though. I am planning on moving my grow to another part of my house due to the fact it is in my closet in my room. Kinda hard to have women over to spend the night with ou having to answer questions or freak out. SO i might be able to try the ripening thing in the future. Just thought of something, is this gas used during the day or night? If night when i take my plants for harvest, i pull them out of the flower room and cover with black plastic for 48 hours. Would that be enough time? You know take them out of the flower give the plant a bit of carpet and then cover it up? I wonder if that would be enough time? Sorry if i am rambling I'm just a little stoned right now.
Until one of our grow scientists that has experience with this chimes in we are only speculating on when, what amount to use and what the results will be with respect to cannabis. I plan on building a ripening room or cabinet to experiment with this. Does anyone else want to do a side by side experiment? Unfortunately it will be quite some time before any of my plants will be far enuff along to try it out. I am really curious if this could take and cut off a little bit of time from a long flowering sativa.

Some more info on it.

Ethylene Action and the Ripening of Fruits

Ethylene influences the growth and development of plants and is the hormone which initiates fruit ripening

Stanley P. Burg 1 and Ellen A. Burg 1 [SIZE=-1] 1 University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Florida

Recent studies employing gas chromatography show that an amount of ethylene large enough to stimulate ripening is always present within a fruit before the respiratory climacteric begins. This fact and data from experiments in which fruits were exposed to a partial vacuum or varying concentrations of O2, CO2, and ethylene oxide reinforces the view that ethylene is a ripening hormone. The respiratory climacteric begins soon after the fruit is harvested because the tissue no longer receives from the shoot system a substance which inhibits ripening; this substance may act by lowering the sensitivity of the fruit to ethylene. The threshold for ethylene action is also influenced by the composition of the atmosphere, for O2 is a substrate in the reaction activated by ethylene and CO2 inhibits the action of ethylene by competing with the olefin for the receptor site. Experiments indicate that ethylene is derived from acetate or acids of the Krebs cycle and acts by binding to a metal receptor site in the tissue.

I have used, used carpeting to divide rooms in operations. I have covered both sides of the carpet with fireproof(it just melt, doesn't burn) reflective plastic. So yes, carpet can be used in a grow-op. I'd never use it on the floor because it would be rediculous to keep clean and I'd keep it at least three feet from any lamp, etc if I were using it for a partition.

Thanks for hopping on guys :)

I'm still looking into this and can say for sure that it will be an experiment in the near future ... I will keep you posted when and where :)

In the meantime , If anyone wants to jump in with any related info ..its all welcome )

LOL @ the guys who never read the post ..... WE KNOW ! haha

btw ... Thanks for the Rep :)
