A Change from LED to HPS- Path Worth Taking!

you got to understand when you tell someone that they went into something half heartly, that they will get offended. not really a good way to take that. the main benefactor to LED is less power consumption to equal greater amounts of production like CFL. the reduction in heat is partially due to being a lot less watts and a smaller surface area to cool. the light spectrum when i purchased was no better than HPS if it were then they would suck for veg which requires more blue end of the spectrum, but thats not the case. ive already paid off my HPS and the LEDs were taken care of a long time ago so im past counting any cost. HPS has been around for a long time and theres no reason to go to a different lighting source if this one works just fine. as you said yourself, 600w LED will match 600w hps in performance and yield. i didnt continue this thread this far to keep having controversy over which light source is better. thats the main reason for me getting quickly offended and mad.

Fair enough, in cyber space the true meaning is sometimes lost in typing. I am not trying to have an argument about which is better as that is a old story now. But knowing that the bigger panels these days can do the job I would have hoped as a LED proponent that you would not have ditched them in favour of HPS and got the bigger panels. When I refer to HID costs I mean the electricity and maintenance cost down the line, which you will experience first hand.

Perhaps what i should have said was it is such a shame that you have shunned the LED in favour of HPS and I wished you had stuck with them and bust the bank for a big boy. They are not that pricey..I got a 550W from http://hydroponicshut.com/Pro-Grow-550-Watt-LED-Grow-Light.html and it is great.

Good luck whatever you do my friend.

You know what I meant. I thought you were saying he was half hearted in his grows. So your saying he went into LEDs half heartedly.?

lots of things are lost in cyberspace and thats why they say argueing over the internet is worthless. your 550w LED is 800$!!! that is expensive for something that is not proven. i didnt plan to spend more money on something that was still to be tested especially since the vids on that link were even after i bought my HPS set up. plus all i saw were veg videos which is not anything special as that same thing can be achieved with HPS. with HPS you dont need to search for which will work, as they all work. im not sure if you have looked at any of the rest of my thread or just the first couple pages but you will see ive made my choice and have gotten plenty of fine results. not sure how 550w is any different whether its LED or HPS, i dont think my electric bill knows the difference either.

whodat- i dont do things half heartely and i went into LED thinking they would be the best thing ever and they ended up leaving me half hearted. so i switch to a bigger brighter heart of HPS! when he mentioned half hearted the way he did, it was basically saying i went in with hardly any effort which to me is was offensive, thats what i understood atleast.

What you meant has nothing to do with this....you are putting into question what I meant about "half hearted" so I explained myself. If you don't like my explanation then tough.

got some panda film and did a cheap jimmy rig job on covering my veg area. went with velcro though its probably not the best choice haha. pretty much light proof for the most part especially compared to my other cover. now i can sleep at night and leave the lights on haha. also got some better growth going on in the flower area with much to come hopefully.

i bet the plants are loving you for helping them receive more light. and hey as long as it shuts then it being velcro dont matter much at all.

and who dat, ive never used mylar but from what i see and here about it i will never use it over the panda film.

thanks guys! im sure the plants will benefit from the light being reflected and like MC said, as long as it closes its all good. the panda was wayyyyy easier to work worth and is a bit thicker than mylar which is nice. whodat, you should like it but i cant say whether its any better for reflective properties compared to mylar, though many people will say white is the most reflective material. its wayyy cheap as well, my buddy at the hydro store gave me like 8 ft for 5 bucks, i asked for 6 ft but he measured them on his tile floor in the shop which is like a ft and a half per tile.

cfl or mh for veg and hps for flower, is it really that hard to understand?. if you use anything else you have to make excuses as to why you are doing it, which in turn confirms my first statement.

nice going lg, they look great now, i had some issues with the tops of my buds getting burnt and this harmed the way my haze buds grew for a while, your back on track now though!!

thanks GHB. there doing there best to catch up and i still have some decent hopes for the way the yield should turn out. nothing has even started to swell up yet so there should be some nice growth in the next couple weeks.

heres another update- i think they are on week 5 of 12/12 but to me there around week 4 due to the hairs being fried.
close ups are Sour D, Pure Kush, Bubba Kush, GDP, and Skywalker
