I purchased 5 Nothern Light autoflowrs from Single Seed company...they arriveed 10 days later...They also sent me 1 northern light x big bud autoflower and 1 afghani x yumboldt feminized seed as freebies ! ..on dec 26th at 4;20 pm 1 northern light seed and the NL x BB seed and 1 bag seed were placed in wet paper towels and plastic bags...on the night of the 28th all 3 had cracked...i placed the seeds in grow sponges and the sponges into small white dixie cups..as of today Jan 1 2013 the northern lights girl was placed in her new home in an 11 quart Bucket (1 quart less 3
gallons) under the 90watt ufo..and the NLxBB and the bagseed are still
in the sponge in dixies cups under a plastic dome that is under a small
white LED bulb and aluminum dome. ..the plan is to use the 2 northerns in the 2 11 quart buckets of greenfileds and the bagseed i will place in a slighty different 3 gall or so bucket with coco ....if the bagseeds turns out male i will remove it from the box and use it to polinate 1 branch of eatch of the NL and NLxbb Plants for seeds.
Here is my Setup:

Armour grow box 4'x3'x2'6" lined with refelective insulated board

(2) 90 watt LED UFO's one is 80red 10blue 1 watt leds ...the second ufo is 70red 10 blue 5 orange and 5 white

(1) white 3watt LED bub with a dome

(2) 11 quart buckets filled with green fields organics soil

(2) small fans ..one is oscilating and is for air movement ..the other is being used to pull fresh air through the intake hole

On the way is a 180cfm inline fan with a 4"x'8"
carbon filter that will exhaust out of the top of the growbox...any
advice on light placement ,ventilation etc is welcomed..here are the pics so far...wish me luck and enjoy the growshow ! cabinet.jpgcabinetinside.jpgday 2.1.jpgday 2.2.jpgday 2.3.jpgday 2.4.jpgday 2.5.jpgday 2.jpgday5.1.jpgday5.2.jpgday5.jpg

So, you are only using LED lights for this grow - 2 90w UFOs to be exact?

awesome, really curious to see how this turns out. I'm a huge NLs fan, so i wish you all the best!

ExatoMundo dvdr !...only using LED's ....(2) 90 watt leds and (1) 3 watt white LED that i used to start the girls..The reason i went with the Northern Lights strain is due to its well known and consistantly reliable reputation with growers and its one of the first strains to ever really hit the "market" .......i want this grow to be about the 90w LED UFO's..not about the strain... i didnt want to go with some exotic strain that could offer varying results due to its own "dna makeup" so to speak....With the NL's there are no excuses...ive got the right genetics to succeed ..as long as my temps and ventilation are good..my soil and water ph are good..then its up to the LED's to prove themselves...and then let the results speak for themselves :)

Plus rep to ya man I'll be watching as things progress

Make sure you train them as those LEDs won't produce as thick of buds on the bottom branches unless they can really get some light. After the first 6 inches on my main cola I can see a decline in the density of the bud

awesome! i am flip flopping between wanting to buy two 100w panels for a future grow (my first actually) or going with an 1000w HPS. Currently I am thinking about the two LEDs plus a 400w HPS... but by tomorrow I am sure i will have some new idea.

ANyway, your results will greatly influence my final decision.

All the best mate! im rooting for you, your plants and your LEDS :)

Day 10 update... ok i installed the second 90w ufo and also the 4" inline fan and 4"x8" carbon filter..one of the bagseed seedlings didnt make it so i germitated another NL auto...seed cracked in less than 24 and is now in a grow sponge....after adding the new 90w ufo and fan/filter my temps went from 75-85 to 85-90..im thinking maybe i need to either add another intake hole in the box or increase the size of the existing hole as the 90 temps seem a little high? ....here are the pics ...first plant pic is bagseed..second is the NLxBB auto and the third is the NL auto !

13 days after the beans hit the bounty..here is where we are at....the replacement NL i germinated was somehwat corroded at the top and i was leary of it germinating...suprisingly it actullaly did but when it broke ground the rotted part of the seed was still stuck to the top and sadly she didnt make it..germinated another NL seed and hopefully it will hit a grow sponge in the morning ..then it will be placed under plastic dome and the 3w LED aluminum dome ...the other 3 Ladies are doing just great !...the bagseed plant is keeping right up with the other and looks great too..hopefully it will be female but ill take the male and some seeds and be just as happy...i was a little worried about heat but i think my exhaust duct was slightly blocked in the ceiling by insulation and im pretty sure i solved that issue..they are really growing at a great pace...i have been rotating them 1 space to the left every morning so all of them are recieving a pretty much = amount of the dif light spectrums on the 2 ufos im using....the ph of my water might be a bit high at 7.2 ?? ....i havent given them any nutes yet but probably will by monday(day18 from seed)...i think im going to use some nutes from either home depot..lowes or wal-mart...reason being i wanted to try and use something anyone can buy without having to order it online and wait or visit the grow store .. .....the pics are in oder of NL..then NLxBB...then bagseed(blue containter)...

Looks good I'm subbed for the read. Looking forward to see what those leds can do. As an electrian I can't help but wonder how hard it would be to build an led light and how much u could save.

also as it happens i also had one of my seeds die soon after breaking ground. heart breaking stuff!

Day 18 from seed....I am extremely happy with all of the ladies so far...They are growing like crazy and have not stretched at all.Its hard to tell from the pics but the new branchng is like a jungle.with the NL and NLxBB having the most and the bagseed not as much...all 3 have a thick solid main stalk ..i will be able to do a little LST... AKA ..."tyin em back" to us old school'rs in a day or so as i know in another week they will really start to grow.. ....Tonight they will receive their first nute cocktail ! ..i will be going with Bloom for the whole grow ...The NL i geminated last week has been doing ok..not sure it may be a runt..it is now in a 11qt bucket and still under the 3watt LED ..if you notice.. i planted it way off center...i did this to experimient with taining it all the way to the other side of the bucket as they are oval...Overall at this point im very impressed by these UFO LED 's...they have majorly out performed any CFL or Flouros i have used in the past to start plants .I know they will produce bud ..what im really wondering s if the buds will be thick and dense or light and airy.. i know co2 is not a factor as i keep the doors open to the area most all day and i also run a 4'' 186 cfm inline fan....time will tell......plants pics are NL..then NLxBB then Bagseed in blue containter and then the newbie NL ........................................................................................ day18.1.jpgday18.2.jpgday18.2NL.jpgday18.BB.jpgday18.NLBB.jpgday18.BS.jpgday18.BS1.jpgday18.jpgday18.nlbaby.jpgday18.nlbaby1.jpg

Plants are looking good bruv , I really think LEd is the way to go, I will stick around so I can compare results with my poor man's setup :weed: I have 3 auto pineapple express going which are also fairly consistent from what I have read so should be interesting , to compare the commercial version vs my highly improvised, cheap Chinese led strips.

Mini update and some nughunter grow tips..

21 days from seed.....

ok first thing i did was raise my lights..ive seen a few LED Ufo owners wonder how to raise the light as the steel hanging cables it comes with are a bit long...what i do is double up eatch of the 3 cables..instead of hooking one end to the light and one end to the hook ..i actually hook both ends to the light and hook the other end or "loop" to the hook....the lights hang 50% closer to the hook now ;)

then i did some LST'n ... i like to call my method "tie-stickin" ...what i do is take wooden skewers used for making kabobs and the twisty ties that come in a box of garbage bags..for the larger branches i twist the tie around 2 skewers..then i use the skewers to hold back the plant branch and place the pointy ends in the dirt up to the depth of my liking..on the smaller branches i use just one skewer to hold the plant branch back in the place i want it.....this method take alot less time than the string tie back method and its very easy to adjust ..it took me longer to explain it than to actually do it !...as you can see from the pics the plants have a "bonsai" look to them now and the side shoots will eventually turn into "main colas" ...

i also hit the ladies with there first light dose of Green Light Super Bloom 12-55-6...bought it at home depot for $10..i have used this stuff since it came in milk carton containers back in the 90's! ...great stuff that anyone can get at any home depot/walmart/lowes etc...it really fills out the buds nice during flower...no its not one of the big name nutes..but not evereyone has the ability to buy those....trying to keep this grow somewhat within the specs of a medium to low budget grower or one who does not like waiting or ordering supplies in the mail....:blsmoke:

we have come a long way since the old phototron ad in high times was the top of the line setup lol...i agree i think in 2 years the LED's will be dialed in to a T and it will become the norm and hps/mh hid ligting will be "the old school" way of growing..just my opinion ;)

if im honest with you i really see things going that way to mate its only a matter of time! if they got as good as the existing lights i would certainly buy a few of them for my grow op. gotta be kind to the planet at the end of the day, without it we'd be a tad screwed!

looking good man..just wondering..the leaves look more sativa then indica? ..whats the age of the plant ? what lights are you using? Feel free to post some update pics whenever you get a chance thanks !
Yeah as the plant grows it gets more sativa leaves, but when they are babies they have big indica leaves, most of the leaves at the bottom were indica but i had to do some pruning because there were budsite's that didn't even have any pistols on them (big indica leaves blocking the light) so yeah nearer the top it looks more sativa.

Auto NL - 75 Days old today, has been grown with 250w cfl until yesterday when my 250w hps came. Biobizz all-mix soil, biobizz grow, bloom and topmax as fertz, PH is normally around 6.0-6.7 I am hoping for this plant to be done in a week or so, if anyone knows any better about when it will be done, feel free to tell me when you think it will be done. When i remember i will upload some pictures in a few days when the plant looks a little different.
