6oz per plant PLAN?

Good Afternoon world,

I am looking for some serious advice/help. This is going to be my second grow, first one I did was a bunch of autos...but anyway, my plan is to do 6 plants. Overall goal is to achieve a minimum of 6oz per plant. Once my seeds have germinated I will plant them right away in 6 gallon pots. I will be using a 5x5 tent. I will be adding a co2 exhale bag sitting high up from the moment I start in week 1. Got my ducting and exhaust fan in check too. With regards to monitoring temperature and humidity I will be aiming for around 70-80°F (21-27 °C)

Veg Time: 1-4 Weeks
Light Schedule: 18/6

Flower Time: 5-12 Weeks
Light Schedule: 12/12

Lights: HLG 550 V2 Rspec

Strain: Barneys Strawberry Lemonade

Medium: BioBizz All Mix

Nutes: Buddhas Tree Brand

All help/opinions welcome...be nice lol

Make sure you test the environment variables before putting anything in.

saying you have your fan etc in check. What do you mean?

Are you exhausting away from your tent (not dumping the air into the room the tent is located)

are you intaking from a cool air source.

are your bends in ductwork kept to a minimum.

6oz per plant for a second grow is rather ambitious especially going from seed for each plant as phenotypes and genotypes of strains mean you could get under producing strains.

just because you buy a KUSH strain for example doesn’t mean that each seed will produce the same plant.

My honest answer is work out what the minimum you want to achieve is from your grow.

Not what you want to achieve per plant.

I used to use a 600w. And I used to say to myself I would be happy with 2-3oz per plant as this makes it worthwhile using the equipment.

Now I use a 400w in my space rather than 600w as it grows me everything I need.

you’re also stepping up from autos which is another learning curve about feeding them correctly.
Nutrients ultimately don’t matter or make much difference on amount produced.

as long as you keep your leaves heathy you’ll produce the best that plant can manage regardless of choice of nutrients.

But personally I would be saying 2-3oz a plant. But I can’t say I honestly know what your light is capable of as I’m an HPS guy.

Don’t expect that on your 2nd grow in that space with that amount of light.
Experienced guys are happy with half that amount in a 4x4 with similar lighting.
A 2nd 5x5 tent and a 2nd 550 rspec with 6 weeks veg could see you somewhere around that mark on your second run I’d say!?

You're going to need more light.

@ 81.25 watts per sq. ft. of HID I'm in the 7-10oz per plant range after 10 months of growing.
My 2 cents, more light.

Some LED guys should be along to give some advice hopefully.

Best of luck!
Do you have any lights you can recommend? Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

Also 1-4 weeks from seed to achieve a 6oz plant doesn’t really add up.

good plant training
Making the most of usable light
Feeding correctly
Providing a controlled environment

4 weeks veg doesn’t really account for much training work to be done.

i veg and train for approx 6-7 weeks and then flower for approx 65-80 days of 12/12 from switch depending upon strain im growing.

I consider myself a decent grower using a 400w and I can max at 5oz a plant approx.

Thanks a lot buddy. I will defo increase my veg time to at least 7 weeks.
Quick question.

you breezed over your first grow using autos.

what equipment were you using?
What was the environmental variables during the grow? Temps RH air exchange etc?
How much did you achieve from how many plants?

This will tell me more about your ability than anything else?

I got to week 6 and unfortunately had a phone call from the landlord that somebody was coming to view the house so had to clear up...was a about 2 years ago. Now I have my own place and less worries so want to do it right this time.

So let me get this right.

You haven’t had a successful grow from start to finish?

And you want to achieve more per plant than most decent growers can achieve.

That's a great light you have so there is potential but the light flowering footprint is 4x4, not 5x5. One option is try to hit 4+ zips per plant on 4 plants using what you have for lighting and space. That way you can see how close you are to getting big yields without making any major changes. Also, consider transplanting rather than going from germ to 6 gal pots. I would start in 16 oz solo cups or maybe 1/2 to 1 gal pots, then transplant when ready. It's easier to water and grow seedlings in small containers IME. BTW, what is the color temperature or 'K" rating? I have the HLG 550 V2 3000k and it works well for seed to harvest. Good luck, if you have a decent game plan, you should have a nice grow.

You really need to set realistic expectations for yourself. I see so many people expect big yields with little to no experience.

Your light is great for a 4x4 tent but a 5x5 is close to double the square footage (16sqft vs 25 sqft) so you need at least another 300W of QB in there if you want even a chance at yields that size.

You would also need to veg them for probably a minimum of 2 months (so close to 3 months when you include germination and seedling stages).

I’ve been growing for over 2 years and I still haven’t pulled 6oz off a plant. I may have come close to or just over 4/plant with my current run but I don’t even try to estimate until it’s on the scales.

Now we get to the experience...you haven’t had a successful grow yet, and you have only started once before, so you will still have a lot of hands on learning to do. You WILL make mistake, we all do, and you will learn from them and get better results each time. Don’t focus on yield yet, just focus on having a successful harvest, and be happy if you are able to pull one or more ounces of quality bud from each plant.
One last note... I’m sure you’ve heard the term “grams per watt”, right? Even “pretty good” growers are happy to pull 1 gram per watt. It takes pretty exceptional growers to expect anything higher than that. So let’s say you a pretty damn good right out the gate. That would mean you could potentially pull 480 grams total from those plants, which would come out to 2.85oz per plant.

fully agree.
This was a room full of power kush after 3 years of growing.

Running a full hydro system

600w HPS independent air cooled lighting rig

Seperate fan and filter combo dedicated for only air cleaning.

Environment was almost in check (had to buy a dehumidifier after the grow to keep RH in check)

fed correctly, allowed to flower the right amount of time bud I did suffer some loss due to bud rot.

I pulled 12.33oz after 3 years of growing but my first run using hydroponics.

Now I pull more than this with a lot less equipment and a lot less of my time. Went from 600w down to 400w.

Be sure to connect with other growers using the Budda in soil.

They are talkin coco and soil here...

Exhale Co2 bags are not effective. You do not need to supplement Co2.
Maintaining proper temps / humidity / venting is important.

If available I would also grab a few clones and get them rooting in solo cups.
