600 w HPS possible in a 2x3x6 area? Overkill?

Well, unless you get a 4" fan, you will have to make a 4" to 6" conversion at some point. Where doesn't really matter. Personally, a 4" fan with the proper cfm rating will get the job done. I use a 4" fan. Just limit the curves and length because theses things will reduce the flow and require more cfms to compensate. If you looked at my pics, I have three 90 degree turns and over 10 ft of 4" ducting. The fan runs at 50-60 percent power. For what it's worth.

I definitely would not grow with an LED either... but I also would never grow in a 2x3x6 area... If I was to grow in a 2x3x6 area I would use LED.

Yeah, I used duct tape and just aligned the 4" coupler to the 4" light fixture flange and wrapped it in tape. Or, you can “slit” with shears the 4” side of the coupler so that it fits over the light fixture flange. Then use a ring clamp to tighten it up. Duct tape helps here too to seal it up.
Everywhere else I used ring clamps available in same a/c ducting area of the hardware store. If you have enough room, connect your 6" flex tube to the 6" side of the coupler with a ring clamp and run it outside your tent. There is no need to install a 90 degree elbow unless you have to make a tight turn like in my setup.
Hardware stores tend to stock 4" flex hose because it's the same size used for clothes dryer ducts and it's cheaper than 6". You may want to run 4" inch ducting through your tent and connect the 6" coupler at the in-line fan. Just depends on what you find for ducting sizes in your area.

You can grow quality herb in small spaces like yours with 400w HID. Gardeners are doing it everyday. Here is a pick of my 2 X 3 grow from this weekend.

Here is what i'm looking into getting, let me know what you guys think as i'm looking for the best of the best quality wise.
Mountain Air 6 inch carbon filter (lasts about 3 years)
Vortex 6 inch Inline Fan
Phat Muffler (designed to reduce 85% noise)
Dyna Gro Grow and Bloom
I plan on having the fan/muffler/filter outside of the tent but am open to putting the muffler and fan inside near the top to reduce noise and have the filter outside above the tent since I have a clothes rack directly above the tent.
My only concern left is the intake, does anyone know the best way to intake air without leaking odor? My tent has a small vent near the bottom with mesh that can be opened but im afraid this would cause odor to leak out even with the fan left on

The exhaust fan will create negative pressure in the tent = no odor leaks from the intake port. My exhaust fan has been on for months. I never turn it off.
I will let other folks comment about the muffler. I have not used one and it might require changing up your design layout for ducting?

If you can keep it cool then let it rip. I have run a 600 in my 3x3x5 open glass before...temps not an issue exchanging the air in the tent about every minute or so.

Thanks! I recently found out my family will be moving so i'm going to have to really let this stealth operation be in effect due to people coming into the house to check it out. I plan on getting padlocks for the tent and if anyone asks, luckily I have quite a few animals in my room, with live plants so I can either say its a micro environemnt for my live feeder insects or for cloning plants. Lets hope no one really checks out the house anyways, we were planning on just walking away due to it being a townhouse and the market being really low.

Get that stuff in order. Nothing like a stream of strangers going through your stuff. And beleive me, they go through your stuff. We have sold 5 homes in the last 15 years. I HATE the process of showing my home to potential buyers.

I plan on being home for each visit no matter what even if suggested otherwise. I will definitely be buying a padded lock for the tent as well. And yeah I know what you mean, hopefully you wont have to go through that again anytime soon. I plan on putting a warning sign outside of tent with something such as: Live Insects do not open, will escape.
As fro an update, I ordered my supplies except the carbon filter and they should arrive next week and my MH bulb is already shipped so hopefully by friday/saturday. I transplanted two to Fox farms OF and 3 gal container and plan to transplant the rest next week

havent really read the entire thread but you can always go with a 1000w kit with a dimmable ballast and run a 400w bulb in it....then later on you can up the power in last 3-4 weeks of flower if you want.
just remember to use the correct bulbs, using a higher rated bulb on a lower settiing is a waste because the correct bulb is going to put off more light and using a lower rated bulb on too high of a setting is a potential fire hazzard.
