540w of TastyLED, 4x4 tent, 8 plants = 1 pound yield

Hey @Rahz i was wondering, If you have a total space area of 3 x 7 but the grow canopy area will be about 2.5 x 4.5 and or 3 x 5.

Do you calculate how much light u want to provide weather it be ppf, ppfd, par watts/per sq ft etc to the entire space? or just your grow area canopy?

Just the grow area assuming the light is centered over that area. Even with optics I would be prone to try and box in the area with reflective material. Maybe something as simple as a reflective foam board from the hardware store cut to size.

Okay sounds good .... I have the entire area outfitted with orca film ... even panda on the floor ... and we had similar ideas on the foam board i used an all white school project board

Are you asking about PPF or PPFD?

My lamps have bin and driver current listed so this is information anyone can figure for themselves without relying on me. A 9x5 tent is 45 sq/ft = 4.2 square meters, so would take 5046 PPF to equal 1200 PPFD. The 2100 series output is about 2.3 umol/j and would require 2194 output watts to equal 1200 PPFD. 10 T3-2100s = 2250 output watts minimum.

That being said, I do have an interest in seeing that fair comparisons are being made.
10, t-3 2100's. Thanks. That's allota lights.
Rahz,

Did you say you recommend 5 T4-2100s for a 9x5?
I believe he said it would be 10 lights to grow anywhere near the saturation point of cannabis (1500-1700 umol) or 900 -1300 PPF, edges to centers, or around 11-1200 PPFD over the whole room, which is perfect for artificial lighting (my method of growing for max Yeild) = the most you can get from your plants or almost double your Yeild from using 5 lights.

I originally suggested 5 T4-2100s being that the output wattage was higher than the input wattage on your suggestion, for less money to boot and in all likelihood a higher umol/j.

Like I said, let's keep the comparisons fair. If you have technical data to contribute that would be great.

Don't get me wrong. I like your lights allot, probobly some of the best around & with you're own personal touch. Very nice! I just do not think they apply to large spaces very well or for those trying to grow with over 1000 PPFD. I'm am not trying to compare them to anything here, but I personally have considered them & this is the wall I hit for my grow style. I hope this contributes to something. Like maybe you designing a bigger light for guys like me. I bet it would be awsome. Although I have been seriously considering some for side-lighting w/o lenses. I would probobly go for the longest light you offer running soft to get super efficiency & a lil less intensity so I can grow close. Thanks for listening!
P.S. I am in absolutely in no way shape or form trying to rain on your parade! I have mad respect for you & what you do here & think you make awsome lights.
BTW, This is the same thing I told Amare when they first came out & there biggest light was a 350. At a lb a plant goal & LEDs putting out an average of 1 GPW, how can I get a lb consistently off one fixture to 1-1.5 plant?
I waited n waited till the 450 came out & now I have an LED light. They thanked me & the other growers who suggested the same thing. Growers would eat your lights up.

The T4-2100 is a 300w watt light. It's new and hasn't hit the website yet but will be showing up soon. That will be the most wattage I will put on a single bar. 690 PPF each. Hmm... the price on them is also 690. Same trend holds with the T3. A dollar per PPF. That's my motto :)

Anyone is free to suggest whatever lights they like but if I see a direct comparison that seems unfair it's in my interest to say something. OTOH I generally let the lights sell themselves so perhaps I shouldn't worry about it so much. Either way, nothing personal and thanks for the compliments.

Hybrid,

I was going to pull the trigger on either johnson, amare, or illumitex for my 5x9. Can you daisy chain the amare?

I use Neo-Sol DS by Illumitex based out of Austin, Texas where they manufacture and assemble the LEDS. Solid as it pays for itself in one run, just saying. Why lurk around and get a bunch of biased info when I have real results.

It's a TRUE 1 to 1 replacement for a HPS ;-) No - And I can spray it all over with a high pressure SPRAYER! Do that with ANY other LED and its TOAST!

Enjoy!
Which spectrum is that?
What kind of real world coverage area per light?

So i was wondering @Rahz, what do you think if one had (4) t2-2100's and needed it to cover a 2x8 area, but wants to place all the fixtures on a bar rail so that one could just hang it like one big fixture whats your take on that?

Was thinking maybe a heatsink just about 7-8ft long or (2) heat sinks 3-4ft long.

Any good ideas one this one out there?

No joke i had the same idea, i have no experience with a mover though and i hear mixed opinions, a friend of mine used one in attempt to increase yield and says he saw no difference...

Regardless I'm willing to go with that option i already hit my source and ordered a GV flex D/E and was told they have a light rail 3.5 its a little pricey tho half the cost of a GV flex D/E which has me thinking of just getting (2).

So for one area yeah I'm thinking that what we are doing, but in another area its not really suitable but also we already have (4) t2-2100's. Which will sit in the middle of (4) D/E's
