5 min out of dark cycle

ok guys i know this wasnt a great idea but my plants needed to be watered this morning badly so i went ahead and pulled them out of their dark cycle for like five minutes while fed and waterd them. this isnt the first time i have done that. sometimes i just can wait to see my girlies,i get impatient and instead of waiting for the hps to switch on i use my cell phone as a flash light just to check on them and make sure everything is ok!! if i do this every once in a while am i taking a huge risk of giving them light poisoning and turning them into hermies?? i know that does put it at a risk but if its only for like five minutes every 3 or four days can it really hermie the hell out of my plants??

if you turn on your light 5 minutes early and leave it on it's not a big deal, if you turn it on and then turn it off it is a big deal. If you're going to shed enough light, like from a camera phone, just to check on them than you might as well turn on the light early as you've already flashed them life

dark cycle is dark cycle i had a friend get hermies from a light in his growin room dont put it on then off stress makes balls

Yeah, leave them alone. They'll be fine.....plants have been around a lot longer than humans and don't need our attention to survive overnight LOL

yeah, well they still all look fine !! no hermies so i dont know guess i got lucky !

hate to break it to ya but you need to think long-term, as in over a course of 3 months... changes dont happen overnight, you could be stressing the shit out of a plant and not know it and in the last few weeks realize that all that stress made it turn herm.

It happens pretty easily, I woke up and heard an odd noise in my room and had to check on it and a fan was bugging out so i quickly used a led key chain light and unplugged and removed the fan, 3 weeks later i harvest and found a few seeds and what looked like male flowers trying to grow in. They plants never showed any sign of hermie throughout the grow and were in total darkness, no light leaks, during dark cycle.

So long story short never peek in until light on or if you do leave it on until scheduled.

I find it really hard to believe that a led key chain light would cause hermi's. I'm not an expert though, I use my cell phone to walk around my room all the time when my lights are out in the closet...

are you still on your first grow or did the crop turn out alright!

okay, I admit maybe i checked on them a few times, just to look at them, we've all done it. But now i would strongly discourage it. Thats the only thing i can think of making them seeded.

have you experienced this ? that would blow

Every morning I turn on a lamp for 2 minutes, just enough time to water them and put them back to sleep, no sign of hermies, no problem with hermies. I doubt an led light caused your plants to hermie, it could be anything from nutrient lock, over loading nutrients, too much calcium or lime in your water locking out magnesium, infestation of mites, and you could quite possibly have a light leak. So long as you are not turning on your light for a half hour each day and then turning it off you should be fine. Dark outdoors is never totally dark, and the moon shines every night; chances are it is environment related.

see this is what i figured thats why i shine my phone lights on them when i need to be in there cause the light has an almost flourescent moon glow to it. my light cycle turns off at 9am and turns on at 9pm so somtimes when i get busy the only chance i get to water them is when they are sleeping. i guess only time will tell but i think just by looking at my plants buds, the rate of growth, the color and the over all plant health i dont think it could be that stressed......

I am in the same situation with the lack of time. I have also found that my plants grow the best if I only water them during their dark cycle. Like I said earlier, I am only in and out of there; 2 minutes tops and no sign whatsoever of them turning on me. If you have a good environment, not serious nutrient and pest problems, chances are real good they will be just fine. You can also go and get a green light bulb if you are concerned; I am picking one up tonight. Pop that green bulb in a lamp and you are all set.
