Day 28

Sorry my daily updates have fallen off. I have been pulling crazy hours at work and have had just enough time to take care of my gardens. That being said these plants have been coming along nicely. They probably would be bigger by now if the grow room wasn't so hot during the daytime. I added them a top dressing of Dr. Earth Vegetable dry amendments and Dr. Earth Bud and Bloom dry amendments. I also top dressed with a healthy scoop of worm castings for each plant as well. I'm also making a 5 gallon batch of boogie brew tea that I will be adding over the next couple of days. The two bigger of the three plants are also going to be topped today. Each plant will only be topped once and then LST for the rest of the grow.

Day 29

Watered with more boogie brew tea today. The light in the tent was off for how long I'm not sure. The power strip had to be reset. They are auto flowers so I'm not concerned about them flipping to flower or anything like that. I'm bummed they have missed out on some needed light. If it happens again I'll be getting an new 20A power strip to fix the issue.

Day 30

The two plants that I topped are already recovering and all the side branches are showing visible growth. As soon as the two new terminal branches are ready for training I'll be doing LST for the remainder of the grow. The little guy might need a week before it's ready to be topped.

Do any of you guys top your autoFlowers?

The soil is dry on top but still moist underneath so I'm going to hold off on watering. It's going to hot tomorrow and I want the soil to dry out a bit before I water it next.

Day 33

Growth is starting to pick up rapidly now with all side branches on the two topped plants. LST has begun on the two plants that have been topped and has been going well. I might have to cut some custom holes in my fabric pots to allow for more places to use the tie-wire on the plants. the pots come with five reinforced holes but they aren't always is the most ideal locations.

I know that I get no choice when these girls decide they want flip to flower but if they stayed in veg for a couple more weeks to bush out a bit more and develop some more nice bud sites I'd be happy. It would also give the smaller plant some extra time to catch up. I have also topped the smaller plant. My rule of thumb has been after the plant grows 4 nodes high then it's time for topping. For this grow it will be the only time that the girls will get topped.

These are the dry amendment that I use when I top dress my plants. I use 2 TBS per 1 gal of soil. Since I'm using 5 gallon pots I use 10 TBS. This first round of top dress was 7 TBS of the "Vegetable and Herb" and 3 TBS of the "Bloom Booster". I also added about 1.5 cups of Organic Solutions Worm Casings.

Day 59

It's been a minute since I did an update on these ladies. Unfortunately I got a little carried away with my top dressing and the plants seem to have a nitrogen toxicity. I wont be feeding them anything probably for the rest of the grow. Only water from now on. I hope they can recover and salvage any type of harvest at this point.

I figured with my first organic living soil grow that there would be some issues at some point. For my next organic living soil grow I will be cutting down my top dressing amounts by 75%. I will still stick with the compost tea once a week though.
