a few people in the irc have told me that it may be possible to move the thermostat in my a/c to the tent or re-wire it to the tent or somethin'. i've unscrewed the back and snapped a pic. can anyone spot the thermostat (think it's the thing i circled on the right) and maybe shed some light on this theory??

try looking on you tube. If Google isn't yielding info. Its a great idea. But sounds like you might have to rewire.

Subbed sweet set up. I'm a huge fan of scrog. Check what this one dude did.View attachment 2901937View attachment 2901938
wtf lol do you have a link to that grow? that is pretty bad ass lol very impressive.

Agromax digital thermometer. Check this>> http://m.ebay.com/itm/121118631960?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1 .
sadly that will do the same as my external thermostat. it seems the a/c unit i've got now does not let external sources turn it back on. thanks for lookin out tho dude!

What if you did a plug outlet trick?? And plug the ac from inside the tent. The cord is long right? I'm sure with that thermostat there is a way to get it done. With an extension cord?

Im agreeing with Jeff will the Ac really be needed?? Its winter time you should be good just exhausting into the house.
yeah a/c will be needed. my room is so damn hot it's ridiculous. winter around here is still pretty warm.

idk what you mean. my a/c's thermostat is buried deep somewhere in the a/c. i tried taking it apart and couldn't reach some of the screws. honestly i'd rather just buy a new one rather than ghetto rig the a/c i've got. i just need to know what model a/c i can purchase.

would be real shitty if i lugged an a/c unit home and it ended up doing the same damn thing as the one i've got...

Ccc..you can set the a.c. outside of the tent and adjust airflow..it will just cost a lil extra in electric..I had a room where I had a 1200btu ac and fashioned a cap over the output, into a hvac hose, and that hose split to the veg and flower rooms.if you want to spend the extra bucks and can visibly have anyone see some sort of construction, look into split a.c.s..I will eventually get one..set it and forget it..untill then.you can make that a.c. work for you..just get a schedule down..you'll seee..its a zen thang.

isn't that kind of what i've done now? except i just taped up the vent holes aside from where my ducting is with the idea that the air will just bounce off the tape and travel into my ducting. even with that my a/c auto shuts off at the wrong temp cause the thermostat isn't in my tent.

do you happen to know of any a/c unit models that don't have this safety feature you spoke of earlier? i'd buy one tomorrow if you knew of one.

This was set outside a room..a savvy friend knew where the temp sensor wad on a.c.s..he hooked the sensor diode to a length of stereo cable and I hung the sensor in the middle of the room...worked great..although I don't think this would be as efficient for you...loomked into any environmental controlers?

yeah that's kind of like what i was trying to do when i took my a/c apart a half hour ago. was looking for the thermostat so i could extend the wire and dangle the little copper end of the thermostat into my tent..that might be what i end up doing still if i can get to these damn screws tomorrow. i really don't wanna do that though..

haven't looked into environmental controllers but i'm assuming if they have anything to do with powering the a/c on/off then it will not work.

i honestly might just hang a window a/c unit in the tent and create a box to fit over the exhaust then cut a hole for ducting in that box and lead it out my tent. i'm assuming window units have drainage holes similar to my unit's, so i'd just run a tube from there to a drain bucket outside the tent. sounds like a good idea to me idk i'm starting to hate air conditioning with a passion lol..

Yeah better safe than sorry, don't want to be in the middle of a run, have temps start hitting 95F and have an issue with your a/c.

Do test runs before you put your plants in to get an idea of temp and RH, even take house plants or a bucket or two of water, put it in the tent to act as an example of plants being in the room, etc...

That scrog by chronic a couple post back is amazing, mate that looks as if its just one whole bushel of marijuana, no tops lol, great grow im going to read it now...!

Good luck CCC, love to see how it turns out will you be updating on this thread or start a new one for journal, love to see how it works..

Be good,
FJG

i will be updating this thread. no need for a new journal.

sadly i don't think this will work..that will power my a/c on/off just like everything else i've tried and my a/c will not kick back on when it receives power from an external source.

what you guys think about this idea though? build an enclosed space to set my a/c in, put a light inside the space to heat it up, and then the thermostat read temperatures that are close to my tent's temperature?

honestly though if anyone could find an a/c unit that would allow me to power it back on with an external source i'd greatly appreciate it. i'm honestly surprised that no one has a solution for this. i wouldn't think i'm the only one who's had this problem.
