you might have swallowed a light spectrum chart and even i as a noob as you "advanced" growers know us by know the difrence between the blue (veg) and the red (flower) end of the chart all i was saying was that for less hassle and cost use a dual spec hps, so dont try and flame me you prick, i'm only offering advice that has worked/working for me.....

hps is fine for all stages, although early on you will be wasting power using it on tiny seedlings or cuttings
most folk would be putting plants in flower at 1.5-2ft tall, that is still a small plant, that only really needs cfls
if you wanted to grow plants 4-5 ft tall in veg, then i would recommend using MH as it will help to keep big plants more stocky less stretching

on a small 1.5-2ft plant you would never notice any stretch from hps
125w cfls are great for vegging a couple of small plants or keeping mothers etc which is another option
peace

i saw your pic dude stretched as fuck no nodes or branches the buds are growing straight from the main stalk, shaded from the cola they're not getting enough light penetration if you were growing with the right spectrum you would have branches and a even canopy so your gonna have one big juicy cola and a bunch of under developed popcorn buds

thats perfect

as for a medium i use coco in combination with airpots you get a almost identical growth rate of hydro without all the hassle
airpots-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOf-39YS_GU

if you decide to go with soil...
Pickup the cheapest bag of potting soil or garden soil you can find scott's is good what i use on my mothers.
Buy a small bag of bloodmeal fertilizer.
Buy a bag of peatmoss or a coco brick
Buy a bag of perlite
Buy a bag of dolomite lime.
Buy some cheap all purpose nutrients, and something higher in P/K(Cactus nutrients are usually higher in P/K).

Per gallon of soil mix in the following:
2 Tablespoons of bloodmeal
4 Tablespoons of Dolomite Lime

Then mix enough peat/coco where you can squeeze a handful and it easily falls apart add about a 4:1 ratio of Soil to Perlite, and yer good to grow.

theres premixes out there foxfarm light warrior foxfarm ocean forest happy frog i heard is good

I veg with HPS' and do most other pros at IC. This thread seems to revolve around one guy, who hasn't harvested shit, debating everyone else as if he actually knows something. Ridiculous.

The light problem is solved.
I'll buy nutrients when i'll start to grow.

I want to place the plants in a corner of a room..I don't want to place them in a box or closet if possible. This is ok?
Is really necessary a ventilation system? I just want to buy some fans, like this << http://remodelista.com/img/sub/freudtablefan.jpg >>
Will it work? Yes it will work... But you are not getting the full potential from your light because of the size of the room. The lumens from the light will not be contained and reflected back towards your plants.
If it was me I would atleast put some type of partial wall or barrier (some type of reflective matter or even white) around the plant to reduce the square footage and reflect the usable light back towards the plants.

Aslo remember that when you switch to flowering (12/12 light schedule) you will want total darkness with no light leaks. I dont know your set up, but just want to make sure you plan for that.

Good luck and happy growing.

Yes, I think I'll separate them from the rest of the room with something, and put some reflective paper in the grow area..This should be good?
What do you think about my air idea?

Utter rubbish a 400 hps light will do for veging and flowering, there the only lights that i have ever used, and to be honest i have converted many hid users over to hps.Ialso think that giveing people advice on lights that you have no idea on is bad,you could point someone in a bad direction, like the guys has proved from above with the pictures the plant in the photo is a great looking gem, that will give him some pukka tings.Plants becomeing leggy has more to do with the lights been too far from the tops,so keep them close to the tops and you will do fine. Also other things that not many mention like ec metre are has important has a good light before useing one of these i use to yeild 3/4 oz since useing the ec pen i now get 10/15 of my best plants and one that is always a little smaller, this will throw me around 8/9oz dry.The main factor in good grow are not doing too many per hps light.
