I did some research and it doesn't change the spectrum of the light it only makes it weaker and if it did change it any it would be so minute that it would have virtually no effect. I like your idea Bumps ;)

But first I'll have to check, what dialling the ballast down to 200w will do for me and my temps in warmer weather.

Excellent work!

I wanted to add a comment that was made elsewhere, that one benefit of autos
is that you can add them to pretty much any tent at any time. My last grow was
autos and I used 24/0 (expensive ;0) where I could have used a flowering tent
at 12/12 just as well.

P.S. ...and the idea of getting a dimmable ballast that is rated higher than the
initial bulb used is brilliant. I had not thought of this, but could use it if/when
I move to 1000W.

Is it not still better to give auto's a lot of lot initially to build them up? Just curious, I've never grown them..

Wouldn't running them on 24/0 or 18/6 initially allow for more growth/bud sites etc.

Ottawa, lights for auto plants should be 24/0, 20/4 or 18/6 if you go any less you'll diminish your yields, of course you can run your autos 12/12 but like I said your yields will diminish.

Autos love 20/4 or 18/6 if you run them in 12/12 you'll just get a smaller yield, they still will grow and shit but your yields will suffer a lot on 12/12.

I flipped all my girls early because I grew from unsexed seeds.. now I've learned the importance of a good veg, I've got some healthy plants but they are pretty small. :D

Still short girls are good too..

So got my light today, and man that thing is bright haha to me personally looks much brighter then my old magnetic one. Everything came nicely packaged no damage to the bulbs all in order. Ballast is running since 7pm and is still cool, my old one you couldn't even hold your hand on it for more then 30 sec. it was so hot after running for about an hour.


So over all I'm very pleased with my purchase, couldn't be happier.

Yeah so far so good, Matt got a question..you got a fan in your ballast right? how is the noise? I plugged mine in and to my surprise it was quitter then I thought, my friends IPower ballast is like a freaking fan lol so loud.

Checked on the ballast this morning to see how warm it got over night and shit was cooler then when I start the ballast for the very first time lol oh and my temps jumped by 3 degrees lol

hey acid i just got my ipower 600w with cooltube last night. funny that you mention the ballast fan being loud. my is super quiet, didnt know it had one till i turned off my fans. So far im really happy. topped my gal at 6" the fifth node. she is getting bushy as all get out. today is the 2nd day of flower with just plain water. planning on adding nutes this weekend.
Man your gals are getting it. looking good.

Shit, it might just be his ballast lol I don't know his sounds like a freaking 4" fan lol. cool cool nice on your light, are you starting a thread on your grow? what you growing there?

Thanks, hopefully within next 4 weeks FCJ will be done and a bit longer for CK.

Looks good acid I like the scrog I think I'm going to play with one of those again with my next photo. Good that the new ballast is workin out.
