Ok, not many pics of the White Rhino, again. Mainly because it is just solid with no issues while the Diesel has had some issues. Anyway, I know the one on the right is white rhino. Check out the leaf structure:

White Rhino leaf- fat, short

The top of the NYP Diesel (this is a pure sativa, notice the longer, thinner leaves) which keeps reaching for more light. I have lifted the light 3 times this week. This was the top when sunrise started 7 hours ago. Right now I just checked and it's a few inches taller. I can't tell if it's stretching or just growing naturally. I decided to leave the lamp height where it was as an experiment to see whether the top rose and bumped into the light or if it settled. It has had a full 1 day cycle. I will let you know tomorrow after I check.

A closer look at the branching structure of the Diesel which looks like it's stretching to me.

This budding area is one of the two initial sprouts. It turns out the smaller straight one was just an offshoot. It has pulled off to the side and gotten itself a nice spot for light. Check out the budding tip:

Thought I'd post an update to my experiment. I left the light where it was, gave the plants a full cycle. The next day at sunrise I checked and the diesel was bumping into the glass on the light. I thought about leaving it but since that is the most important spot on the plant I just raised the light another 5 inches or so. Tonight I plan on moving the White Rhino closer to the light by puttig some 2x4's under the bucket. Updates will come as things change. Feel free to ask questions or give suggestions.

Nice setup! That Diesel looks tasty. Let us know how much that White Rino pulls, because i have read it is a connoisseur strain. If the yeild is decent i will try some myself. I have some ICE going and have become a BIG "white strain" fan! Good Luck, broseph!

Glad you started flowering I was gonna tell you to if you didn't already good job. Probably gonna need to tie that big down a bit if she is stretching to keep an even canopy for that light.

Yea, for this being my first grow, I feel that keeping it simple has been a strength. I just take care of what needs to be done and dont sweat it too much now. The lights are set on a timer, i check water level once a day and i usually check ph and tds every other day. When the water is low i prepare by filling a bucket w water, i add nutes and ph up/down then i let it sit for 12 hours or so. Thats about it.

The plants tend to go a few days where the water level remains steady then in 1-2 days they will drink all the water except for a very small amount in the bottom.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I think I'll tie it down. Do you have to move it downward over the course of a few days? I don't want to stress the plants too much right now.

its probably a bit bendy but if not just use some yarn and horseshoe the yarn around the top nodes biggest set of leaves and just kinda tug to a direction you want the plant to grow ie. where there is open space. Over the course of two or three days it will be back at the same height you just pulled it from slowing the climb effect. Youll learn as you go. Start on the side shoots first to get used to it. Search LST if you need any further help.

I really have no idea. This is my first grow so it is sort of an experiment. I'm hoping 2 or more oz.

Greenfirekilla420- thanks for the advice.

The white rhino is about 6 inches shorter than the Diesel, and I'm not sure if this could be why but the white rhino seems to be about 3-4 days behind the Diesel is blooming.

Ok, here's an overdue update. I tried snapping some pics before the light came on today because my camera really sucks taking close pictures under the HPS.

So after the light came on I noticed that the white rhino had tipped over and was leaning on the Diesel. So if it looks like one big tree, that is why. I'll try to discern between the two:

The plants are about 46 inches.

Diesel

The last two times I've added nutrients the Diesel's leaves have yellowed a bit. My process is using tap water, letting it sit overnight, adding about 1.75 tsp of FoxFarms Tiger Bloom per gallon of water. When I tested it the water was at 900ppm and ph was around 5.2.

This is the bastard sprout. One of the two that sprouted from the seed. It's usually standing up but because the WR fell the plants just look wrecked in all these pics. But notice the bud sites on it. I think I will tie this one up.

White Rhino

This one seems to be about 1-2 weeks behind the Diesel. I'm liking the prospects of this plant because it has four decent looking colas.

Any comments? Any idea of a minimum yield I should get? I know it's sort of a taboo question, but figured someone might throw me a bone since I have no idea.

Plants are now 5 weeks into flowering. About 9 weeks total so far. They don't look much different from the most recent pictures. Besides that main cola on the Diesel, I'm not seeing much growth out of the buds. Although, the white rhino has 4 good sized stems that are strong and tall (including the main one). The buds are still looking like flowers more than anything I'd smoke.

At what stage do the buds start putting on some weight?

I have no idea what I'm doing, but I'm going to look at maybe getting some "cha-ching" or "beastie bloom". I'll spend my work time tomorrow looking at reviews for supplements. :hump:

Bud is a flower if your at 5 weeks from your first pistil sighting in 12/12 then I'd say with the WR you got about 6 6 1/2 weeks left and about the same on the diesel youll see don't rush everything it will come into play.

Ok, I'm at my wits end on a new problem I am having. So I still am not seeing any progress on the plants. The buds are not changing and nothing appears to be growing.

So, last week I changed the reservoir. Adding 2 tsp per gallon of the FoxFarms tiger bloom as usual. Then, the next night I checked the tds and it was at 2400ppm. Not got. So I immediately threw in some water to dilute the solution. Checked again and it was at 1800 ppm. Checked the next day and it was at 1300. During this time the diesel has been slowly going downhill. During this whole time ph has been steady at 5.2.

So 2 nights ago I decided to change the water again. This time I went with 1 tsp of tiger bloom per gallon of water and I also added 3/4 teaspoon of cha-ching per bucket. Also added some ph up to get ph up to mid 6's to see if that helps.

The following night (yesterday) I checked on the plants and they were severely droopy. Ppm was mid 600s. None of the leaves were standing up. PH was 7. So I added some ph down. I haven't checked since then. Will check in them tonight.

One thing I realized when I opened tent was that humidity was down. Its normally in the 50s, but overnight it had changed to 40%. And the temps were what they normally are which is mid 80s. The drop in humidity could have been caused by my exhaust fan. I realized that when I had changed the water the fan fell out of place and was no longer pulling air out of the tent.

Does anyone had any ideas of what could be going on? My plants seem to be in serious trouble. I am goin to continue working on the ph to get it between 6-6.6. Just not sure what is going wrong. Yes my temps are high, but Diesel comes from Brazil. I'm assuming temps his 85 out there too.

Any suggestions?

You need to do a 3-4 day straight H2O flush to clean everything out. WRAP those damn buckets in black duct tape there is obvisouly some type of nutrient lockout or burn going on. Which the flush will fix if you accutally do it...

Alright so when I checked on them last night the leaves were all completely limp but still damp and green. I emptied the nutrient water and gave them fresh buckets with straight tap water. They don't come out of the night cycle for awhile so I don't know yet if they can be saved. I noticed a few nice looking branches from before are now bent almost like you would bend a mcdonalds straw.

I have two questions at this point:

1. Is it possible to save the plants? Because if it is I'll stick with it but if not then I want to get started on round two.

2. How the F did this happen? The ph was static, but possibly too low at about 5.2. I just read that the plant doesn't take in certain minerals as well at such low ph levels. But for the plant to be completely healthy with 0 ph movement and somehow it's on the verge of dying 5 days later, I just don't understand it. Can someone explain to me what happened? I looked up "nute lock" but all I can find are posts where people have already diagnosed it. I'm wondering how to prevent it.

On #2 I was able to find this thread which is helpful. If anyone has anythingto add I'd appreciate it. https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/8596-nutrient-lockout-explained.html

i know this is old but....nutrient lock out occurs when the ph of the water/soil or whatever is too low or too high. im pretty sure ph of hydroponics should be between 5.5 and 6 or 5 and 5.5. its something like that. and another thing dont use tap water. only water from reverse osmosis. buy an ro machine or buy gallons of purified water from a grocery store. tap water has chlorine in it and other dissolved solids in it. at the very least you should let tap water sit 48 hours to let the chlorine evaporate before using it on plants. cannabis is a very delicate plant. ya cant just give it tap water and do whatever to them. you gotta be on your shit or they will die on you.

It's scary how a too much impatience can quickly ruin a grow...
