4 the Newbies... Keep it simple

@cat I don't think it's the space either cuz the one that just has the cots is in a pot and not the starter squares. But yeah I just had them under the light since they're still so small I plan on going bigger with the lights.

Oh and the bottom leaf on the bottom pic isn't really yellow it still has the seed casing on it lol

Do you have your soil mixed with perlite/vermiculite? This aerates your soil so your roots will spread and grow better. It also helps for drainage to have a bit in the bottom of your pot. When you transplant, IMO, it will help to add some to your mix. And make sure you don't over water. Wait til the container is 'light' instead of 'heavy'... root growth is promoted by letting your soil dry mostly through because it forces the roots to 'search' for water/nutrients. What kind of seeds are these?

Sometimes, you just need to turn your back, and let them grow. Nothing ever happens when you are watching! LOL

You are both very welcome! Thats why I created it! Everyone needs help from time to time, and I have seen a lot of "experienced" people on here give negative feedback for newbie questions... telling them to search for it themselves... but I figure if there is a place without the naysayers then maybe newbies will have a better chance of getting a simple uncomplicated start. If I can successfully grow with this same information, I truly believe anyone can!

Bad news about my clones, they got real wilty, i think they are definitly not going to make it. I did a lot of reading and it seems like people have a lot of trouble cloning and a lot has to do with the particular plant. I have read about water cloning and cloning in different types of soil. It seems like the harder you try, the worse things work out lol. It's lucky I got almost all the supplies for free as samples. I went to home depot today and got some organic soil and little biodegradeable pots. I will try that out and maybe a water clone and see if any work. I just want one plant lol. I have read posts where people cloned like 50 and got 3, they must suck at this stuff like I do. I am lucky my other plant is healthy.

You can use a sponge I've read... put the clone 1/2 inch through the bottom of the sponge (small sponge...) and you float it in water with whatever nutes you need for cloning growth. I will try and find where I found this and post a link for you. Hopefully it will help more than my crappy little description right there. LOL

Sounds like there is a lot to try. I also read that if you use the rockwool cubes you are supposed to neutralize them before. I didn't know this. I also had them in a place that had too mcuh action. I have to put them somewhere where it's quiet. The laundry room is busy.

So...if you clone a plant from the cutting when its been topped, once it roots and starts regrowth, do you consider (and give nutes) as if it were the age of the original plant - or treat it as a young seedling? Does this make sense...LOL

From what I have come to understand, if you take a clone cutting from a female plant grown from seed and still in veg, then it only takes a clone 2-3 weeks to be ready to be put into flowering... but if you take a clone while in flower, you have to wait for up to 6 weeks for the clone to go back into a vegetative state to get ready for flowering... As far as the nutes, that depends on what medium you have chosen... Clones can be put into soil, which should have the nutes you need until flower, but I assume if you are using hydroton or rockwool, that there are probably some added nutes or hormones you might need for your plant. (I know rockwool has to be soaked before putting a clone cutting in it... super thrive or something like that)

I have cloned the tops that I cut off when topping my babies (at 6 weeks veg now). Now that they've rooted and begun to grow again, I was just wondering if I should give them nutes like their 'moms', or treat them as seedlings due to their new root system. There were planted in a seed starter soil, so there really isn't any extra nutes in there. I will be putting them into larger cups soon and using the MG soil that everything else is in. Do you think they can take some mild nutes yet? I want to keep 'em green!

If you feel comfortable giving them nutes, maybe 1/16th strength to start...

Im now on my 10th day flowering introducing nutes for the first time.. I let mine vegg for a full 8 weeks to get stronger.. I only had 1 75 watt 2ft grow light on 5 plants...LOL..YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW SMALL THEY WERE.. Im now running 15 26 watt 2,700k (13 of those) and 2 6500k's.. The plants are exploding with new growth and doubled their size in 1 month after getting the right stuff...
