have a box very similar in size, made from 2'' thick pink foam, 6-23w cfl, 1-120mm pc fan and 1-4"in-line fan, homemade carbon filter, and I have a hard time keeping it under 80deg in my 66deg basement
I hear you...I'm really excited to get some new fans that will hopefully do a lot better job.

I'm confused by how people with these big growing tents only have two fans, one in, one out, and keep their temperatures stable.

I am working on a new way to keep it cool aside from adding/replacing fans. Hopefully I'll be able to update soon with that :)

I plan on watering the next few weeks with my grow fertilizer, then switch over to a bloom nutrient.

Any reccommendations on bloom nutrients? I was going to probably just go for the Tiger Bloom or the Fox Farm blooming solution.

I actually ended buying a bunch of 120mm fans off of eBay that actually are already wired for a power outlet (12v)

They only move 64CFM, but my box is about 10 cubic feet :) So hopefully these are going to work great :)
Can I ask where you got these? I just ended up spending 20 yesterday just to get the 12v cord to strip and make into my new exhaust fan for a box im building.:cuss:

I'd be glad to link you to the fans I bought...

Lot of 6 120mm SINWAN fans

$60 for six of them, but its free shipping. I will also be using these on my other box that is currently in development. Pretty good deal IMO, especially because they are already wired up the way you need it. :)

Also...some pictures should be coming tonight! They don't look much different than they did about a week ago, just bigger and more delicious looking :) But they are on about their third day of flowering, so maybe we'll start to see some big changes. They have already begun to stretch!

well sweet with all the fan talk... i think i have figure a way to amke a in line fan with 8 inch fan.... i will prolly be using some dryer hose and a card board box... if i can find a dryer hose splitter, i will prolly split it and have two intakes with the fan on high it should push enough fresh air in pretty good... that way i can have the option of putting my intake by my ac vent... i will need some more fans for an exhaust though....

Hi everyone, today I am going to begin to LST my plants, as they are starting to stretch out real good!

I will be posting some pictures hopefully tonight or tomorrow after successful LST :)

Also...I wanted to add that here within the next week, I will not be flowering with CFLs any longer as I have purchased a 400W HPS system. My last grow was decent with the flowers, but this time, it will be exquisite. I'm very excited to compare the results of my last batch to the results of this one.

And...coming soon, I will be growing Nirvana's Short Rider. I just bought the seeds three days ago and hopefully, they will arrive this week yet, or early next.

The future is looking very green!

Well, I investigated the plants today. And I think at least 2/4 have been shown as male. Check the pictures, I would like another's opinion on it before I remove them from the cabinet. Each picture is of a different plant.

that first one is def a male... the first and only time i sexxed and got a male, i was so pissed... i was waiting for like three days for those clusters to pop open and get some nice pistils... never happened... so chop it and cross your fingers for the rest females... i will cross my fingers for ya... btw, it does no good to smoke any of that... i smoked my male leaves and ended up with a super good head ache... not worth it.. just replace it with another seed to germ... or you can simply cut a clone off your female and use that to replace the male... as far as the second pic.. i couldn't really tell, but if it had those pod shape clusters too, then it is a male as well... you could always save the pollen from those and cross breed your own strain in the future... that is about all the males are good for... breeding! future ref. if the pod id shaped like a heart, then it is probably a male.... female calyx are more tear drop shaped... hope this helps you out a lil... sorry bout the male, and i hate it i was the bearer of bad news, but shit happens and new plants will be grown...
crossing my fingers for you to get at least one female...

on a good note, my female took about a week longer to show than my male... so maybe it is a good thing they havent all showed sex yet... this is also another reason i am going to get quite a few more sprouts going this time compared to last... i figure with a 50% chance i get females, i'll have better results with more of them...

Time for some updates. The PLANT is now in it's second week of flowering. 3/4 of my plants were male. I'm having a hell of a time here...earlier this summer, I had 5/7 male, and now 3/4 male! Are male plants more common than females? What is up with this?

Anyways...I have upgraded the fans on the box to 120mm fans that move 62 CFM each. Good for my small box.

In the past week, I have ordered a 4' x 2' x 5' tent and a 400W HPS ballast and bulb. I am planning on using the tent for flowering and keeping my box with CFLs for vegetative growth, or to keep a potential mother plant. I haven't quite decided :)

But, I am now down to a single female that has been LST'd using coat hanger. I accidentally burned her leaves around the apical bud (whoops...) but I'm hoping she will bounce back and get me some great smoke :)

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as things develop :)

Hey great job on the grow box! i built one L24:XW12XH24, the only reason i kept to that size is because my grow is stealth in the closet. Your plants are coming along great, and the lst looks good, have you thought about adding an screen to maximize your yield? how are the new fans working out, my box seems to get hot quickly with 6 26ws, so i keep 5 in for now. I just picked up a new fan, 120mm by silenx, its super quiet 14db and moves 72cfm.
Do you have a stench yet? wondering how bad it is! and How did you wire your balast, i can't see too many wires coming from there, looks great!
I'll post a link to my grow if you want to see the box! i'll be watching yours for here out, good luck!

Adding a screen? Is that what scrog does? I haven't read up on it and how it works, but how does it increase yield? I am intriguied...

The stench is quite noticeable, but it doesn't smell skunky. These chocolate chunk plants smell more grassy or earthy than skunky. I am planning on implementing some odor control solutions very soon as I will quickly be having more plants in the coming days. I plan on using some carbon filters on the fans and then also adding a big jug of Odor Killer next to the exhaust fan to suck up the smell.

The big piece of wood that holds my lights were simply wired up to an extention cord that connect six different light sockets. Each light socket has a Y-splitter on it so I have 12 x 42W (504W) of mixed-spectrum in the box. This box will eventually be used for only vegetative only once my tent and 400W HPS show up.

Thanks for the good words...yours is looking stellar as well :)

Hey bro, thanks for checking it out. Chocolate chunk is a great tasting strain from what i have herd! great choice!
Did you wire one extension chord to the 6 sockets?? What are your temps like with 12X42 watters, and how high are they above the plants!

I have a good video of a scrog screen setup, it can increase yield, epically in smaller setups, keeps the leaves and branches from reaching the tops of the lights, and they can be spread out more wide rather then tall, i have a vid from youtube, check it out its pretty cool, i think the guy is on RIU somewhere!! check out his massive Cola! its huge! looking forward to checking out more of your grow! good luck omega!:bigjoint:

Yep, I wired one extention cord to only one of the sockets, then each socket is wired to the next...I think I wired them in parallel. Whichever one makes it so the amount of electricity doesn't degrade as the path goes on. That way, only one power cord coming out of my box for the lights.

Scrog looks pretty sweet. Sounds like you have to make sure you only have females in there, because its pretty hard to get the plants out of there once they start growing and tangling in the wire. I might try this with my mother plant, should I ever start one, or at least a few plants I pull clones from.

Thanks for the kind words...I wish you luck as well friend. I'll be stopping by any time you update to check it out :) Talk to you soon :)

I have been germinating three more Chocolate Chunk seeds over the weekend and finally planted them today. My 400W HPS system also showed up and is functioning as it should...

At this point, I am waiting for my tent to arrive so I can begin all of my flowering cycles within that tent. My HPS will be getting me some very delicious nugs, so stay tuned...!
