Day 11 flowering...

yea most deff trimm those old big fan leaves you want/need to when there that close together im getting my clones ready to do a run in the same system though im gnna thin mine down to 25 so i do have a little room and if it works good im gnna run 2 for a total of 50

Not much to report really, my daily routine is still the same with these.

--Check water level.
--Add water if needed.
--Check ph, adjust if it is 6.5 or higher down to 5.8.
--Check ppm, if it is 1100 or below I adjust back to 1300ppm.

Rez temps, tent temp and humidity all within limits and still no rez change.

As far as budding, these things concentrated more on stretching this past week. I am assuming they will start to get some nice little buds this week. Anyone think I should thin them out a bit by cutting off those huge fan leaves? I want to badly to get more light penetration, but I know they store energy.

Pics coming!

and you say you havent changed your res one time yet since they have been in there. how is that working out 4 you is it starting to stink at all? im just wondering cause i was thinking of doing the same thing so just wondering what that was working like thanks

It's working fine... the rez does not smell at all. I assume I'm not having any issues because the temps are low and there is no light getting into the rez. If you read up on the Lucas Formula, he never does a water change the entire grow unless the ppm/ph get way out of whack. The stratagy is to maintain 1300ppm within acceptable ph ranges for hydro. I never let my ph go below 5.8 and never higher than 6.5. The ph swings from day to day which I like because we know different nutrients uptake better at different ph levels and I'm using tap water which is harder to keep stable than reverse osmosis water which is supposed to be used with the formula.

I may after this batch is done, clean all of the roots, debris out of the rez with a fishnet/screen and use it the same mixture again.

so what is this lucas formula? im hearing alot of people ask/talk about it. who is it made bye?

It's just a guy who goes by Lucas within the community. I like it because it's so simple. I use FloraNova Bloom instead of the General Hydroponics 3 part, one bottle formula the entire time. No additives, nothing... everything to grow a perfectly healthy plant is in that bottle. As you can see my plants are doing fine and show no deficiencies.

Looking good DND, keep up the good work.

BTW, that link that you posted is probably the most informative thread I've ever read - ironic, I pasted it in my journal this morning after I found it last night and couldn't stop reading.

When I first came across it, I couldn't stop either. It really made me stop thinking so much into nutrients and growing in general, simplifies things.

Nice  Sounds like you may be my involuntary sounding board for a couple of questions and/or ideas I had from it, but I've gotta process some more info first..........also need to put together my damned flowering tent that I've been dragging my feet on.

I'll PM you with questions and ideas to not muck up your journal, if that's okay with you.

Yeah no problem with that!

Your looking pretty dense in that jungle,
but it looks like your getting a little tip burn.

I recommend that you lower the nute load.

Only light will make more yield..not more nutes.

At this phase of the game
you need to start lowering the food
until you are starving her at the end,
this will give you sticky buds and better smoke.

Your yield is not gonna be very much
because you don't have enough light
to get those lower buds mature.

If you trim the lower buds now
the plant can concentrate its energy on the well lit buds,
and they will be tighter and denser.

Fluffy buds come from lack of light,
not lack of nutes.

Great job so far.

Hey Earl,

Thx for the input! Yesterday I trimmed everything on the botton 6-8 inches of the plants. I have been trimming since the beginning of flower, but this plant is bushy as hell. I'm thinking POG isnt a good choice for SOG. I will keep a mother, but I'm moving on to my Green Crack moms next run.

About the nute load, I am trying out the "Lucas formula" for the first time which calls for 1300ppm the entire time. Just giving it a shot to see what happens, in the future I may go a different route. I think the tip burn you are refering to may be light burn. Either from water droplets on the tips or from the light being too close. I moved the light up a few days ago so that should help.

Yeah, I was looking at your pics after his quote and didn't see any burn at all, in all honesty.

Looking good buddy.

How are you Bob? Thx for stopping by!

A few things (mistakes) that I've learned thus far doing SOG with this many plants...

#1. NO VEG TIME! As soon as the roots are strong enough, flip them. I think this is what may end up affecting my yield in the end. And I bet I wouldn't have to deal with all of this trimming underneath the canopy.

#2. Instead of the pump being always on, cycle it. I just started using a cheapo 15 minute timer with 15on/30off. I think if I would have used this on a timer before, my roots would have doubled the root mass. Next time I'm going to buy a CAP timer using the 1on/5off cycle.

I'm sure as this progresses I will find more and share them.

My pleasure sir - always looking for new ideas

Quick question for you - you don't have measurements (or even a decent guesstimate) about their height at the onset of 12/12, do you? Something like 8" maybe?

Just curious......

Yep, between 8-10". Big mistake in hindsight, can't veg these bushy indicia strains that long when growing this close together.
