I have been running a couple prism CMH ballasts and after trying a few bulbs I am sold on ushio 3000k bulbs in vivasun adjustable wing reflectors, trichrome & quality is up from my de hps, not saying my setup is better than others but it works for my situation
Ive got a pretty good side by side going. 5x5 with a philips hps DE running at 1100w and a 5x2.5 running two sunsystem 315's, philips 3100k bulbs, vertical.
They run opposite of each other so the grow room stays about perfect temp all day.

What brand of 5 x 2.5 tent did you buy? Just saw those the other day, brand was Lighthouse.. Kind of a cool size for a tent. Only thing I hate about Gorilla is their 2 x 4 isn't actually a that its smaller which makes things pretty cramped. What kind of temps do you get with 630 in there?

Anyone have experience with a silver star 315? Seems like a nice reflector with a vertical bulb... wondering how it performs and how much heat she throws

Ive been able to hold temps under 77 with a 8'' ac infinity fan running at 60% and it is pulling through a filter. My tent is the vivosun. These just came out.

The 5 foot wide walls do suck in a lot im going to have to make a way to keep them spread out. 2 315's fit really well. Planned to just use it for veg but now im flowering in it for some reason.

Have you tried the Hortilux? Supposed to allow a lot more UV through.

Phillips lamps are vastly superior. I've ran both. The horti's aren't the same exact tech, there are big differences.

I bought my 315 all-in-one vertical hoods on Ebay for $150 each. They work great and if the ballast inside dies, I can just rig up an external and be back in business without too much trouble. Was worth the cost savings over everything else, for sure. They work great with Phillips bulbs.

Yeah i have them for a dual purpose in my 5x5. holds trellis and keeps the walls out. Im not taking the 5x2.5 apart to put them in though- small plants that dont need trellis. I like the furring strips and zip ties for that small tent i think.

I've seen the trough-style before. on a much larger scale tho. It works well if you know your strains some don't play well with others.
Well its 4 different strains from 4 different breeders so let the battle begin! 20 gallon pot and im only looking for a couple ounce off each plant so I shouldnt have any issues, theyve got plenty of room.

Earthboxes? they look like troves filled with medium. Why the need for a new name? Everybody wants to put their name on the wheel.

I just happened to get them for free. I had to buy the auto-watering valves, and those are expensive due to patents (which expire soon also)...

Funny you mentioned them, I just popped in two hortilux right now, too early to tell 2 week of flower, been growing this strain/ clones for awhile now, should be a good comparison, I'll let ya know.....

I did not have very good luck with Phillips bulbs, they came with the prism ballasts, both failed within weeks of each other, I switched to igrow tech but was not impressed with growth/terps, Ushio treated me good in my hps hoods so I gave their CMH bulbs a few runs, perhaps I had a bad batch and need to try Phillips again...
