2x4x6 vs 2x4x5, how valuable is that extra foot?

Hi all,

I'm in the process of setting up my grow environment in my condo. I've bought a 2x4x6 tent + carbon filter and fan. Will be picking up a light from aliexpress as well, (320W QB).

My question here is how valuable i that extra foot in the 2x4x6 vs the 2x4x5? I've set up the 6ft tent, but it is really big. That extra foot really seems to make a huge difference in the visuals (as it now towers over the bar beside it vs sitting flush). Also, the tent was $100 more expensive based on the brand selection I had.

I'm planning on eventually (once I learn a bit more) setting up a full ScrOG to fully expose my plants.

Knowing that I'm running with an LED and have a bit more heat clearance as a result, do you think I could end up with the same or similar yields in a tent 1ft shorter?

Sorry for the noob question - just want to make sure I get a good balance, and keep the girlfriend happy!

Yeah its worth its weight in gold, especially with an intense LED.
I tent to use 8" filters so once you hang the light below that and then 18" gap to canopy and then a pot from the floor it takes away a lot of vertical space.
I could grow with 4ft height if I really had to but why make things more difficult when theres no need.

… when your plant stretches during transition to 12/12, you'll appreciate the extra foot …
Spot on … I have a 2 x 4 x 5 and what I wouldn't give for that extra 12". It will make a difference.

Yeah … learn to SCROG. Scrogging a 2 x 4 grow space, from corner to corner, can yield you 3/4 lb using blurples. Much higher if using COB or QB.

Corey nailed it. If the LED is a high wattage unit - or if it's a blurple with some IR diodes added - you may need that extra foot to prevent light stress.

Just like they said. I'm at a 5 foot height and my lights as far as I can get. That extra foot would be great right about now

I have a 2x4x5 it's my first grow. I have 3 plants in 3 gal cloth pots. Under 2 1000 watt LEDs from bloomspect . It's a little crowded but I think the out come will be rather nice . I got about 2 weeks left. Good luck to ya and happy growing.!
