Just so I get this all down before I sign up;
1: Germ 5, keep 1
2: 12/12 from seed
3: In a party cup the entire grow
4: Begins 1/1/2013
If that's all good sign me up
and now some questions
4: Same LED light for the duration?
5: Do we use nutes or pura agua?
6: Can we grow them any way we want to? Topping, Lst, Scrog, etc. I mean, I don't even know if they will get that big, just curious.
7: Do any other restrictions apply?
What's up Dolamic? Nothing is set in stone yet, but your points 1-4 are all correct, as of now, unless everyone else wants to change stuff up...for your next 4-7 questions:
4. Doesn't have to be the same led light for the whole grow, if you get a new one or something, go ahead and use it. or if you want to start with one and add another later, totally cool with me. Just needs to be 100% led.
5. nutes are suggested but you can do straight water if you think you can compete like that.
6. any method of training, topping, super cropping, etc is acceptable. Last time we had a couple guys top them and came out badass.
7. no other restrictions that I can think of right now...
Let me know if you want to sign up.
I vote that for anyone that can't go LED alone they should still be allowed to compete but can't qualify for any prizes, like what amateurs have to do to compete with the pros in order not to lose their collegiate status.
And I also plan on using multiple lights, like I'll be using a 20 watt 12,000K to germinate them, then I'll switch to a BS240 after sexing. Plus I fuck with my plants before flowering so a ruling here would help clarify things. I want to get multiple tops/colas going. And what about cup modifications? Like can we make air-cups?
I'm ok with letting non-led users play along, but they can't win the prize. What's an air-cup? Like poke holes in the cup to make it like an air pot?? What do the participants think about this?
Totally had the same idea with the "air-cup" thing lol! I agree with the strictly LED rule and letting anyone compete (only pure LED grows qualify for prizes). Sticking to the rules strictly will help to preserve the integrity of the competition.
I also wanted to inquire about nutrients, medium, etc. Any rules at all?
EDIT: Perhaps an extra "moderator" or "judge" in case it's needed...
Same question about the air cup, not sure what you guys are talking about. any nutrients, medium you want. If anyone out there wants to help me moderate/judge, let me know, it's always good to have an extra pair of eyes on stuff.
in the orignal contest we all used the most basic of party cups, in my case i used a plastic transparent cup, not the best idea
to start going down the route of "air-cups", would take the comp down a different route of whose party cup tech is better
Yeah i wouldn't recommend clear cups, red or blue party cups would be best.
I agree with the past couple post, especially endurexx. This competition should be strictly LEDs. But If I had things my way, I would love too get away from those party cups and give them at least a couple weeks veg from seed. At least 1 gallon pots sound nice. I think the part cups take away from the potential of the plant. And the ability of the grower.
I think I could do better in the 1 gallons ... well .. obviously!! but I mean against the field ... I would be in the race a little more
2 weeks veg would not make much of a difference foreverflyhi, ... it would be more or less the same, but I dont care!
So wait, do you guys still want party cups or something bigger? I personally think the cup is what makes the competition, anyone can grow in a gallon container, but a cup actually takes some skill. But I'll leave it up to you guys, whatever the majority wants.
Party cups are available anywhere making them easy for everyone to get. Having consistency in the container ensures a fair and level playing ground, there's enough variables with genetics, nutes, medium, lights, and environment. We need some consistency... lol
I think the majority wants to stay with party cups, am i right? I can have all the participants send me a vote for party cup or 1g if you want?
