what causes them? Humidity? Spider lays eggs on your plants?

I keep a very tight seal in my garden so no buggies can get in. And I clean it out and wash at least once a week....

It's the little things man!
They aren't really a bug. They are part of the Arachnid family. They are on all common plants. Just gotta make sure you never get them. I keep a few lady bugs in my garden.

The cause is from my cat or me getting them on my plants. They thrive in low humidity environments. I normally would not have this problem, as we usually get infested with them, but its winter, so I'm sol. Between the adults and the eggs, washing wouldn't cut it. If I wash my plants off, sure I might get them under control, as I thought I did until I got that fucking norovirus, but I think I'm going to end up having to order some predators. Do the lady bugs eat the eggs as well? Or just the adults? Edit: Infestation of lady bugs, not spidermites. God, that would be awful!

I've used neem oil on them, I actually just ran out and need to grab some more, but these particular species are resistant to almost all forms of control. They are the speckled ones. http://fieldcrops.org/Soybeans/PublishingImages/twospottedspidermite02.jpg Thank you for the congrats, it made my day when that light got here. When I open the tent, my entire bedroom is purple. This thing could easily do a 4x4 for veg and will definitely flower these girls out nicely, I can hang it 6 feet up and there's still bright light all the way 4 feet down. To properly cover a 4x4 though, it would take 2 of these. Next major purchase is a gallon of bloom (I've got almost all my grow left, these things just LOVE P,) C99 and some clones from my fellow growers, and a new flower tent that I don't have to cut open the door and windows. After that's in order, I will get the other light. I'm really stressin over getting these mites dead so I can flower. I've been waiting far too long for this! But at the same time, I'd rather not smoke webs.

WOW!!! That's a lot of stuff going on there.
You should see inside my head sometime! :P I'll be getting pics up within the week. Tuesday I get paid and I can get my phone, the rest of the money will be to grab more stash, get the mites fixed, and grab a caramelo and possibly a grape or berry cutting. I'm not sure what 2 of these guys/gals have, so it'll be a surprise for me too. Damn I hate going to that part of town, though. Its SOOOOO far.

Wish I has access to "cuttings" of assorted strain....I feel like I live 15 years behind everyone on this site as far as my options.
I like the KISS method myself!

Can't wait to see these 2 ladies, I sure hope you get the mites under control. How's Pinky doin with her def? Is she getting better?

I acquired this access at complete random. I consider it an act of God that I am to be doing this. Sounds a little crazy, but I'm sure getting some pushes lately. KISS is an awesome method. I try to live my life that way. Thank you for the good wishes. Karma will reward you. :)

Pinky is doing much better, ty for asking. I gave both a topdressing of 1/3 cup each 0-5-0 + mycos from FF, Jamaican 1-10-.2 guano, and Epsoma Organic granular + myco and archea bacteria 2-5-3 in prep for flower. They are just burning through all the P I give them, so this slow release will hopefully help a little in the battle. There will be no more top dressings. I'm going to get a gallon of bloom this week or next, I have almost all my grow and halfway through my bloom bottle. Maybe I need to find some N hogs next time. :P

Bagseed has pronounced her smell since I started adding molasses and I am starting to get a handle on her P problem. SHE IS LIME DIESEL! STRAIGHT UP! I have fixed humidity at 39% low, 64% high, 52% average. :D I opened the tent, and as the air has not been exhausted constantly, the smell is pretty noticeable. I caught a hint of something I didn't smell before and it wasn't Pinky, so I rubbed Bagseed's stem and BAM diesel! The Diesel is the foremost smell with a medium presence of lime, and the faintest background of skunky spice. I still have pollen from her brother in my freezer, and I will make a few more F2's this time around. I have 10 seeds of her sisters to find another suitable father, hopefully with the same foxtailing and growth patterns, as her stud had an unusually thick stem for his size, and was also somewhat lime diesel smelling. If I can find her sister that has either higher resin production or larger calyx swell, that is the only thing I would search to breed into these. Maybe an AK cross in their future, though. That would truly be unique. These really are actually kinda sticky themselves, I had resin production 6 days into flowering with her outdoors.

that post made me drool.....I gotta get my hands on some bat guano. Sounds like you've got everything dialed in just right. I just picked up a warm mist humidifier for my closet and hope it can keep some humidity in there as I had 0% for...like...EVER! Lime diesel sounds awesome :) My first grow was a bagseed, and she smelled just like fuel with a hint of limes....best smoke I ever had! Maybe she was lime diesel, her buds were like juicy, plump, dense, sticky little christmas trees.

Maybe, our diesels, should meet?! lol total pun there. Thanks for the compliment.

I'm going to grab some Flora Nova for bloom as it has a slightly higher P ratio, because even at 2x strength, they are eating the hell out of it. I'm working on the mites still, got a new OMRI spray and it works, I'm about to go down and do a thorough combing and spray down. Gotta stay on top of it. Diesel has rooted both clones. Pinky however has 1 that I'm pretty sure is rooted, just not at the extent the Diesel is, and the other one had 0 roots but still isnt dead, so I resnipped the bottom and redipped her in gel/cloning solution and put her back in. I'm going to try and get at least the shelf put in the veg tent this week, and upgrade over the next 2 weeks to acclimate all the mothers I'll be grabbing.

I've been offered some Diesel Kush seeds from a local cross that came in at 26% so I'm looking forward to them. I might get the chance to try some of that Mazar as one of these guys has a mother and several in rotation right now. They said it smells 3 blocks away!!! 7.5 oz per plant. I can only imagine.

I'm about to get my phone turned on! Just gotta call customer service and have the number fixed, so I'll have pics as soon as I get an SD card, I thought the phone came with it, but it didn't. Happy growing!

Edit: That Lime Fuel has my mind wandering now, and my mouth watering. Did you save a mother?!

LOL!!!

She was my first grow from bagseed so I had no idea what I was doing...lol!

If I only knew then what I know NOW :)

Oh, I think we can all say that! The phone had a memory card, my buddy just forgot to put it back in after he took the pics off. I should be getting that from him very soon. I know everyone is anxious to see the Chrome and the ladies.

Update: Transplanted 2 Diesel clones with WHITE healthy roots into styrofoam cups with aerated edges to prevent root circling. A little DIY smartpot. I also did 1 Pinky, even though her roots weren't showing like the Diesel, she hasn't wilted in a week and half, so she's rooted, just needs to catch up. The other cutting has been re-cut, re-dipped, and is showing signs of taking. I put mycos, guano, and FFOF in the very bottom at a low application rate and fed with 1x strength nutes as they were all begging for P and Mg. I'm going to check out some cuttings tomorrow from a local source. Hopefully SOMEONE around here has some BB or Tangerine Dream. I'm a huge citrus and berry fan. I'm also aspiring to finding the cutting I had 2 years ago that tasted and smelt like fresh cut pink roses. It was delicious and a nice balanced high.

These shitty pay checks are really hindering my ability to complete my veg tent while I'm trying to eat. Hopefully getting a new job soon with 2.50 more per hour and an extra 8-12 hours a week. Fingers crossed.

Update: All clones rooted and I took a lower branch as a possible giveaway. It hasn't wilted at all, and in fact has seen richer top growth and it was done 2 nights ago. I tried to germ some bagseed from some beasters, but neither germed, so I call them duds, shame since they were such nice looking seeds. I'll give them a few more days though.

I'm not used to the intensity of this light yet, nor how the increased PAR effects feeding, and I burnt the girls a bit. I think I caused a little lock out so I gave them a small flush, got really good run-off. I checked my pH and it was at 7.0. The girls were a little blue the other day so I gave them some lime, but in order to bring the pH down, I gave them the recommended amount of Sulfur from Epsoma. Its the one that turns Hydrangeas blue. I'm at 6.5 now. Speaking of lights, I'm getting my sd card tomorrow. I'll try and post pics before they go to bed, but its not a promise, I might be going out for the vday. If not, I'll get them up the next day, kinda makes me feel bad they haven't been on here in so long.

Edit: Oh yeah, I FIM'd both Diesels successively. Pinky is too small as of yet to be FIM'd, but she has started to pick up since I put them all in DIY air pots. It's true what they say about cloning, one out of the batch will always stand out. I have 1 in each crowd. Same height, thicker stem, more robust growth. And I mean huge fucking difference. Guess which one's going to be the mother?! ;P BTW, if anyone is interested in the technique I'm using for my mothers, it is this link. I don't do it ALL the way at the bottom, I leave 2 nodes, because mine branch extensively. After this run, I'll do topped vs un-topped, if I have room. Diesel is a classic X-mas style tree when untopped, and a bush of colas when topped, and Pinky is a somewhat lanky sativa hybrid with extra stretch when untopped, but a nice little bush of running colas when topped. Just worried about where to put the Caramelo and Shiskaberry x Hashplant. Just waiting on them to root.

Didn't get the SD card today. Sorry guys. I watered Diesel clones and bent their stems in several spots. The response was good. I also tied down Pinky a LOT and split one stem a little, but nothing major. The middle is completely free to fill in now, and I will switch in about 3-5 days when they recover from the burn. I'm in the process of ordering the containers for my future mothers and veg containers for the next rotation and bloom nutes since I'm almost out and I think this ratio will suit them better. I'm still in the GH line, just an upgrade. I'm also drawing up the veg chamber to make sure I have ventilation and lighting down proper and there's room for everything. Cramming 2 studs, 15 clones, 15 vegging plants, 15 mothers, ventilation, and lights for all of them in 40 cubic feet is a task. But I'm determined to make this work.

Edit: Spidermites have not been seen in 5 days!!!

Well, without further ado, I present the Blackstar Chrome and the ladies!
IMG_20130217_015958.jpgHere is inside, about 2 feet off the ground looking up.
IMG_20130217_020052.jpgHere is Diesel from the top, the REAL white spots are nute burn. Shhhhh. It's being taken care of.
get-attachment.aspx.jpgNode spaing on Diesel. Again, sorry bout the nute burn.
dieselstemtie.jpgAccidentaly split the main cola and almost tore it off when getting Diesel out to water. Damn light chord. So I tied her up. SHE BETTER RECOVER!!!
IMG_20130217_020029.jpgLast but not least, here is Pinky. I tied down half of her to open up the middle to fill in more. Its kind of an experiment on flower sites.

I got rid of all the mites!!!!! HOORAY! :bigjoint:bongsmilie:blsmoke: I have viable clones, which technically could already give their first cutting, but I'm giving them more time. I ordered Flora Nova bloom in a quart in hopes that feeding will be easier. It is 4-8-7 instead of 3-4-4. Less is more. I also ordered the net pots for the mothers and the containers for veg. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks I'll have 2 more mothers and the veg tent at least half way done and Pinky and Diesel should be showing first signs of frost!

I've got pics of the clones and new mothers, I'll upload them after dinner. Does anyone know an admin that could maybe move this to LED?? Or should I keep it in CFL since I'm still using them for veg and mother keeping?!

Well I tried to upload them, but when I sent them from my phone to my email, I think they got lost in cyber space. One of the Diesels has THREE cuttings I can take and its only 2 weeks old. DEFINITELY the mother. Pinky is starting to get her branching goin on and spread out, so she'll probably be ready for me in about 3 days. The other Pinky cutting looks like it could go either way, and the one of Diesel that didn't droop has drooped some, but has new growth at the top, so its coming along. I got a decent pay check today, so I might have the veg cab built by the end of the week, it just depends on how I'm feeling. I went to an electronic show on friday and I caught something there. AWESOME fucking show, but I'm sick. So like I said, depends on how I'm feeling. Hope everyone is having a good day!

From left to right: Group shot, Pinky, and the last 3 are Diesel. See what I mean about the crinkle leaf and 3 cuttings?!

Fed the clones when I woke up. At 3 pm lol. Wake and bake with some hybrid my buddy had, no name, but good stuff. Real introspective and pulses are good, and relaxing, not couch locked. Anyways, I used a clear solo cup full and split it between the 3. One of the Diesel trimmings ended up getting stem rot so I threw it out, but it looks like Pinky's other clone is recovering, so we'll see. I'm going to read up on the bonsai mom keeping. Gotta do this right, so there's room for all the variety I want in there, and to keep males in veg so I can start my breeding program. Apparently there was a guy in the gardening store that took my license plate number. It made me really uncomfortable. It was just weird how he acted. Hopefully nothing comes of it.

I ended up topping like the bonsai mother tutorial suggested on just my one Diesel that I'm going to keep. I got two cuttings off of it, so I did the whole cloning shebang and I'll check on them periodically to see if they take. Pinky's clone got the crinkle leaf as well where I FIM'd her. She has craaazy node stacking up top. I'm debating on just tying her down, as she branches extensively already. But then if she doesn't take cuttings like she should, kinda hard to blame the guide since I didn't follow it. Idk, I might just get another cutting off her and try one of each. Whichever doesn't work as well I'll just flower out, but that might be more work than its worth.

Holy crap, this thing has a lot of views!!

Does anybody here know if I possibly need to change my pH because of the coco?? I'd be using it as the base and then adding perlite, EWC, pulv lime, guano, and silica for the mothers. Will that make it a soil, or soiless mix?! I'd really rather not have to use pH up and down. If I do, I'm going baking soda, lemon and flushing whenever there's salt build up. I'm trying to make this as simple and maintenance free as possible.

I'm going to make the top two tier, with 4" PVC running in two levels of Us with a Y in the middle of each, connecting to the lower level, and finally into a drip pan to collect run off. I would of course, cap each end, so as not to spill on the doors. My only concern is whether the roots will eventually grow into the drain instead of being pruned. The only preventative I can think of is installing 1 watt LED in the pipes to light prune the roots, but I don't know how to keep them from getting wet.

I still need to get the shiskaberry x hp cross. I haven't heard from them in about 2 weeks, so I'm not sure what's going on with that, but I'll have the Caramelo in 2 weeks. He just supercropped and tied his mother again, so we have to wait for her to recover so as not to cause her too much stress. Clones are all looking good. The untopped Diesel and the recovering Pinky cutting both needed food and water so they each got about 1/3 of a solo cup on 1x strength.
