2019 Legal Outdoor 207 Season 1

Sup nerds,

Decided to grow MOB & Strawberry Cough this season. It will be my 1st legal grow here in 207. Ive grown for over 10 years mostly guerilla style outdoor only recently moving inside past few years.

I am very interested in starting a breeding pool and gaining some good genetics. I also have some great genetics from previous years I will be growing to find 1 or 2 males to cross with the MB & SC.

I plan to focus mostly on the outdoor growing season with this Journal. I will document the breeding/genetics tests etc. on a different thread or possibly a YT series.

Okay here we go: Stuck 4 MOB in water and 3 MMJ Bagseed on May 6th. They all germed but 1 MMJ Bagseed, which was an immature seed to start.

I have started them using shot glass > paper towel > solo cup w/ Pro-Mix

Under 100w CFL 5500k Blue Light, been staying between 71-79 degrees with humidity of 60-65%

They will stay there until they go outside, yet a lot will be done in between. Sexing, cloning, training, ferts, etc.

I have 15 Straw Cough seeds attempting to germ as we speak. That is whats in the red solo cups w/ the humidity dome. I will be using mostly organic ferts and soil additives for this grow.

Soil is : Pro Mix, Bone Meal, Blood Meal, Perlite, Earthworm Casting, Lime (early), Charcoal, Compost and some Moss varieties

Checked on the babies this morning, still no sign of that 3rd MMJ Bagseed I labeled "Brian ?" because my buddy Brian gave me them. Here is a picture of the 4 MOB sprouts and 2 MMJ BagSeed I'll call Brain ? from here on out. After working on root development they have began using their energy for making new leaves. The small one up front had the seed husk stuck on like a helmet for awhile until I removed gently with tweezers, however the cell membrane still had the leaves shut. I did minor surgery getting of the membrame and eventually getting the sprout to open its leaves. It shall live on! Happy growing Week 1 underway

Been almost a week since the babies popped in soil. Look healthy and the runts are starting to open up, grow and stretch a bit. I had temps a bit too high for one day, which I believed caused the initial stretch.. It could however be genetics and a # of other things, but MOB should be short and stout. I have had an oscillating fan moving lots of air, prob more than I need. I want strong stems for eventually taken them outside. We can have quite the storms and change in weather: wind, hail, flood rains, etc.

They seem to be progressing nicely. I started them in decently sized pots, so I am trying to not overwater. I have a nutrientless medium for the most part. It's Pro-Mix w/ Mycos. So i have added .5/1 ml of Cal/Mag and 1ml of Big Bloom from FF to lightly water the edges of the pot. I plan to let them get pretty dry until I next water. Mostly likely will be a small dosage of the Wholly Mackerel, Big Bloom, and CalMag. For now I am going to do the best method I've learned in all the years growing ... LITFA ... Leave It The Fuck Alone

Temps have been between 69*F - 78*F
Humidity between 59% - 73%

Had a bunch of seeds germ and haven't quite popped in the dome yet. It has been about 24-36hrs. I expect to see some of them pop in the next few days. I have had the hardest time trying to crack open my Strawberry Cough seeds from 10+ yrs ago. I did get about 5 of the 15 I tried to pop. Let's hope we get a decent Mother out of that selection! The viable seeds from within the past few years popped easy peasie no issues. I'm def a little behind this year, but the falls have allowed a decent extension to the season than we never had growing up. Cheers and Happy Growing

Just a thought , I rarely grow a mother plant
I just go clone to clone
But if I do make a mother it is a plant I have already grown it two cycles before I make that decision

Thanks for popping in H&S. I have usually gone clone to clone, but I would like to delve into breeding, genetics, and creating some seeds specific to my most vigorous, best yielding, potency, etc. Most importantly though I need mold & pest resistance. I can't rely and count on always being able to have a grow, set-up, area to keep a clone or even a mother going. Job, living area not set in stone in the future. I like having the ability to have most of my favorite cultivars locked into seeds.

The bigger idea behind it all is also to give these seeds out to friends/local growers who can grow them out and/or breed them and give me feedback, findings, etc. It's a small community out here and we are always looking for better cultivars for out climate. Seems all these new crosses and names of bud have gotten out of control. In 10 years it seems all the original genetic lines will be so crossed and mangled we won't know where it all came from. We kind of want to start preserving our local area cultivars and history etc.

But I digress LOL

It's Day 8/9 for the girls in 1 gal pots. You can see the small Brian ? #2 has recovered nicely since we had to manually remove the seed husk. The solo cups are a couple of the local bagseed that sprouted 24hrs ago. Still have about a dozen seeds that germ'd and haven't sprouted in the last 48 hrs , c'mon you know you want that light . Just a little update as we are about 2-3 weeks in for the MOB and Brian ? And I also have some new babies which Ill name later Tomorrow is nutrient/water and note taking. Heres a pic from the other day.

Update as of Friday June 7th. Ive been hardening them off last few days to transplant outside next week. Closest one looks to be male got a bit cooked under the bright sun first day. Cheers happy growing! Im looking to get the back 6 bigger and hardened off by June 21st.
