I went to mix up my cans and I added some more water. I came back and lifted the lids, and there was a strong odor of chlorine. I used the water from my garden hose...

Are all my micros dead?
I couldnt tell you bro, just keep mixin and cooking it and see how it turns out.... maybe some one else will have a good idea for ya.... good luck

hey nathen you ever have any cal/mg problems or burning problems with the supersoil and smaller plants?? I just transplanted a few into 3 gals and they seem to have developed either a burn or Mg deficiency or both> I only used SS in the bottom 1/4-1/3 of the containers and made a layer of normal roots as a buffer. Im using tap water flitered through a tall boy carbon/sediment filter (not RO) Ph has been going in low 6's...Can't seem to figure it out, I thought it was just water and grow...I knew it was too good to be true!!! hahah

Super Soil in Canada

hello again, one and all...

so, i went down to vermont to buy some roots organics soil, was reassured by everyone i talked to i should be able to bring it across the border...only to get rejected coming back into canada (illegal to bring soil into canada) and then threatened with 5 years in jail by the american border crazies. oddly enough, despite the only "illegal" thing i could be found guilty of was trying to bring earth into canada, the canadian customs people were very cool, respectful and more or less pleasant. meanwhile, despite being guilty of absolutely nothing on the american side, they refused to let me back into the country to return the earth to the store (actual quote; "this is my country. you're not getting back in here."). they forced me to dump 10 bags of it behind the border lobby. o...i also got interrogated and frisked. i also was repeatedly called a "canadian pot cultivator" in the lobby for everyone to hear. great fun!

anyway... there must be canadians out there trying to use this recipe and haivng the same problems i am.

has anyone found a tested work-around? what are canadians using for soil? i'm in quebec.

if you're using promix or something like it, are you adding anything to it to make a more complete base soil, then adding subcool's recipe to that to make the super soil? if so, what are you adding?

thanks

have fun

I'm thinking that I am going to just start over. I will drive for the Roots! The Happy Frog / Pro-mix blend brought nothing but PH issues and bugs. I think the chlorine really F'd up the micros. There is no more action in the mud. No soil web, NOTHING. Lets hope the Roots mix turns out better...

I used roots, next time just use distilled water from a grocery store, that way you wont kill all the microbes.. good luck

Shit yeah Tcurt, nothing like food that you have grown in your own garden... I love fresh tomatoes and onion on a sandwhich at the end of summer... Just beautiful...

It requires no light just as long as its not frozen obviously warmer is better than cooler. I do not understand why this is so complicated you mix the soil then you let it sit so that all the ingredients break down and become available.
If mixing up some soil is to complicated then growing Cannabis is going to be way over your head.
Its a simple process and Its beyond me how its made so complicated.
Mix the soil water it to moisten and let it sit, its really not rocket science

Sub says he vegs for a full 60 days, but he flowers with 1000w or more I guess. Would I be able to veg that long and flower with only a 400w CMH. I know he tops to get more colas and to control height, but I am still worried that my 400w wouldn't efficiently flower a plant that has been vegged for 60 days.. any thoughts?
If you have a CMH than you are STOKED>...that is probably the best light Period...make sure you are using an old skool magnetic hps ballast....or you will blow your light...CHek out a guy named Riddleme...he talks alot about CMH. Very convincing info.

Ok I know you have to ask a RELEVANT Q to get a reply so....You Obviously know what your doing so you have my respect and I have taken your word as gospel....First, I saw you said adding a sweetner down the road in the bloom phase is ok... I am guessing you go with the Black strap Molasses, someone else asked this and did not get a reply so...????? Second...I know you have mentioned it getting to cold for cooking the SS, but can it be to hot outside 100F+ ???
Third How much water do you give your 7 gal pots...??? I was coming to the conclusion that you don't want to completely drench your pots, so as to not wash away all the goodness to make it last longer???? Great stuff. Im will be using this SS next month. +Rep

I hate to ask dumb questions but here they are anyways.. The recipe says 5 pounds bat guano but the happy frog guano thats shown is 4 pounds, So do I use 5 pounds or just 1 package of happy frog thats 4 pounds? Kinda the the same questions with the Down To Earth brands Fish Bone Meal and Blood Meal, I see sub using what looks like a whole box but thats 6 pound not 5. So, do I use the whole box(6 pounds) or measure out 5 pounds.
Sub or ANYONE else please help i dont want to ruin this.
And once again SORRY FOR THE QUESTIONS.

Im sure it doesnt matter... I add all the boxes and things work great bro... a pound of this or a pound less of that is not gonna be detrimental to your crop bro...
