2 grows with nanners/hermies - could it be my light??

Hi, in my last 2 grows both ended up with seeds, basically the plants hermied or developed nanners - first time i suspect it was the timer, was a cheap analogue style one where you push in the buttons for whatever hours - i noticed the light was on after hours when it should have been long off, so im confident it was a dodgy timer

So i replaced that with a digital one - but again this grow was the same. I want to try and rule out some things as i dont want this happening again

My LEDs run off a HLG-320 - this is connected via power lead to the timer, which is plugged into the mains. When the timer switches off the whole fixture is off. I have a dimmer pot - now a couple of times I wiggled this and the light kinda flickered so was thinking about replacing this pot, it is a SODIAL 100K

I was thinking maybe the light was going off during daylight hours and confusing the plant, is there any way I could monitor light in the tent to see if it is matching my timer hours?

any help or ideas appreciated, maybe 1st hermie was the dodgy timer and the 2nd was just genetics but i dont like the odds of 2 in a row

thanks

Could be your lights could a light leak. You grow in a tent? What strains? Was it the same strain both times? Could be generic.
fairly certain it's not a light leak the way my setup is, the tent itself is in a dark room - different strains, first was a brand new strain from Delta 9, second was a batch of seeds I got from a person on another forum, i did grow a different strain from this batch and it was perfect but these seeds im pretty sure are just crosses of different strains that people were experimenting with

You need to zip someone inside the tent...allow eyes to adjust and actually see if there are any leaks. Even indicator lights like Mastrmasn suggested...can be enough to cause hermies.

Get your timers squared away...and don't open it up during dark time.

Garbage genetics or some type of light leaking is 90% the cause of hermies. Although i had a strain hermi super bad from a fan blowing right on the plant 24/7 .

hi, currently researching a raspberry pi sensor project, one of the sensors will be a Light sensor, to make sure zero light during dark hours.

I'm curious about this. Do you blame the fan blowing "directly" on plant or 24/7? And what did you change?

I run my fan 24/7 directly on plants.

I was thinking that you might have gotten seeds from a self-pollinated plant
the Delta 9 seeds were a strain that had never been grown before, so there's that - the second batch is a bit of an unknown quantity, i did grow a different strain from the same batch and it turned out amazing but this one had nanners....

It was the only thing in the tent that hermied it was a plant in the back where i had a turbo fan on it 24/7. The plant had wind damage on it's leaves. Hind wind can stress stuff idk if it was the fan or just a quincdence. I've had a few strains throw nanner at the end and make seeds but nothing like the wind damaged plant.

Thanks Krytend,
My situation is way different. Have a large fan mounted high blowing down gently on the whole garden. No windburn yet...but I'll watch for that.

@Vosim Sorry for the little hijack...wanted to ask Krytend a question. At least it was on topic.
Cheers Guys,

do you have any pics of the plants? were there any issues? The timer being off would cause the plant to re-veg most likely and possibly nanner up.

hey you know what...i had an osc fan pointed at my plant, i have gotten bud rot a couple of times so afraid of a repeat, as it happens i think i had the fan maybe too close and i did notice some wind burn, so maybe that didnt help either :(
