2 1000 Watt Air Cooled hoods in a 4z4 tent overkill?

I went a little bit crazy on this one possibly but I have 2 1000 Watt Air Cooled hoods in a 4z4 tent, think it's overkill? The ladies don't seem to mind... I have one in a HydroFarm Xtrasun and the other in Hydrofarm Cool Tube. Both are 12 inches from canopy

Wow, feels like a bit much but, if you can control temps at the tops of the plants, more power to you... quite literally.

Ha I have the same area 4x4x8

I use 2 400W air cooled hoods but no air cooling in the hoods (Yet)
I would use 2 600W but I bought the 400Ws for a perpetual that won't happen for at least another year. Now I regret not buying the 2 600W like I was going to.
I figured 2 tents and 2 400Ws would be enough to keep me high all year long.

Personally I'd never buy a 1000W for a tent period, only 600Ws. If I needed 2000W I'd buy 4 600W 2 hoods and put 2 lights in each hood in my 4x4 area. I'd use a inline to suck all the air out both hoods (Both hoods connected) and it'll regulate temps.

I wouldn't say overkill like people in here, I'd say unnecessary.
The only thing I'd watch out for now, is light burn and temps. 12 inches with 2000Ws over their head might burn them.

Other than possible heat issues, I don't think it will harm anything. It won't double your production. It may not add anything at all to it.

holy batshit, BatMan.. advice? dump a 1k and inject co2. Bombs away....~~!!

My dogs love the fresh bedding I made for them and they dont miss a beat with 1500ppm (swiss digital meter) co2. a 600w can put on 1.5-2lbs of high-tops..

Don't listen to the naysayers.

If you search around people will quote 50 watts per sq ft. rule. All that is, is a general guideline, or rule of thumb.

Find out what works for you.

Although, I do think that you'll find a diminishing return after 1000 watts in the tent.

Wow, look I'm goiung to spend 2X as much for half the yield. Let see how this works out for ya.
Do you honestly think his yield won't be increased enough to cover electricity?

I'm not arguing, saying it couldn't be used better elsewhere. Maybe the OP doesn't have the room.

Thanks for the advice everyone, Light bleaching was definitely an issue. Never had any heat issues but the airflow with these monsters was insufficient so I just bit the bullet and converted the whole room.

That's exactly what I think. Too much of anything isn't good. Growing is a balance. Light stress will reduce your yield as much or more than any other stress. a 1k in a 4 x 4 is already 63 watts per sq ft. You also have to consider that a 4 x 4 tent is different than a 4 x 4 area in a room. ALL 1k is contained into that 16 sq ft. Virtually no bleed. This alone can make a 1k in a 4 x 4 tent a bit of a handfull.

Putting a 1k too close or into too small a space is one of the most common mistakes I see people make when they're getting into this and is a mistake I too made, and mis-diagnosed as just about everything but.

That looks bigger than a 4 x 4 tent and doesn't look like a tent at all.

That is definitely bigger than a 4x4 tent, I have one exactly.
4x4 is big enough to stand in and do a twirl but that's about it.
Whatever you're growing in, looks like a walk in closet, and looks like I could lay down in it comfortable.
