Lame. I feel for you dude. Rot/mold is the worst. Make sure to separate every last bit of the moldy part from the good stuff. That mold has such a putrid taste it will infect good bud if they are cured together and it will all taste shitty. Hopefully you will have enough good bud to afford a dehumidifier for next round. I only just got one myself but it really does the trick.

Hey Wark'

It is really surprising that you got the rot with RH not that high.
Were you misting them at all?
Also, does your RH gauge record levels when the lights are off.
It's not uncommon for RH to really climb during the dark cycle.
This is where a dehumidifier like 'mared juwan' recommends will come in real handy.
Were you running all fans 24/7?
I feel for ya bro because those buds were magnificent.
Hope you get it sorted for next time.

Hi Mared, fuck i'm gutted man....yea i made sure i cut all the shit out and the buds that are drying now look nice and healthy,i dunno what theyre gunna taste like though as they havent been flushed.i'm praying the other 2 don't come down with it...Do side cola's get infected with budrot?...god i hope not as they are beginning to look real nice.

Hello Mammoth
No mate i haven't misted them once and i have a max/min setting.i run the 6inch fan 24/7 and the 125mm fan and filter run for around 16hrs per day...i just dont understand it...

Yea I think I mentioned before this is the risk you run with the massive colas, the bigger they are the more wet in the middle. The smaller buds should be less prone to it. But I would start flushing now if you haven't already. If your leaves are still nice and green it will take at least a week or two to start to bring out the "autumn" colors. I like to let my leaves yellow up pretty good before chop because then you know the plant is feeding off its own resources rather than nutes. Flushed buds do taste better. You can tell if you actually chew on a leaf or a little piece of bud. Nuted bud will taste bitter and almost burn the inside of your mouth where flushed bud will taste nice and clean.

fuuuuuuuuck krimes thats harsh man i feel for you fella, its one of the pitfalls of massive colas sometimes no matter how low the humidity and how high the temps some buds due to the density will go mouldy. my kush did the same in the last week. it sucks the big one.

have you binned the buds that were mouldy? my reason for asking is the only product that is viable from mouldy buds is butane honey oil, the extraction strips only the thc.

flush and check mornin n night man.

maybe u should invest in some better extraction warkrimes. Bud rot is the last thing u wanna see, but like they say u dunt get rot in fluffy buds lol.

Hey Krimez, been followin your your grow for the last month, some great info and a lot of good help from a lot of good peeps, man, sorry about the rot problem!! wat a pain in the butt,
I was lookin at my growell brosure and they have a thing called BUD STOP ROT and this is what they say - bud stop rot works by effectively forcing the botrytis(bud rot) spores to germinate on your plants and then eliminates them as they form. This COMPLETELY eradicates

Very interesting. Can't say I've heard of it. Still, I think it would best be used in combination with a dehumidifier. Low humidity not only reduces the chances of rot but it will also improve your yields. There seems to be some difference of opinion on that around the boards but in my own op since getting a dehumidifier I have dropped the RH from low 50s to high 30s and I'm getting fatter buds than I ever expected. I could get by without it but now that I have one I consider it a must-have for anyone serious about their grow. That being said, there are killer strains out there that have such low resistance to mold/rot that no one wants to grow them. They'll rot before maturity no matter what humidity. So in those cases this product which supa mentions is definitely worth looking into.

Hi and tnx everybody.
Sorry i havent updated in a while but ive been busy and also had major stresses with my isp.To cut a long story short theyve robbed me of £38 AND my monthly service charge of £11.50 for last month.Ive just took a couple of snaps with my phone and i will do a proper update at the weekend with some nice bud shots.Been checking the 2 cola's that are left constantly and all appears well for nowThe trichs are starting to amber off on the leaves so i gave them all 1.5ltrs each of plain water today and will do so everyday till monday when i take the 2 cola's off. After ive taken them off i plan on giving all the side colas a full dose of nutes, leaving them for 2 days and them flushing them for 5 days constantly....does this sound ok?

Anywayz...heres a couple of poor quality pics....sorry :)

Looks awesome dude. You're still gonna have plenty of bud there. One more thing to look for... whenever I had mold the first sign was a single dead fan leaf poking out of the cola. It would just shrivel up and die for seemingly no reason. If that happens just follow the stem of the leaf to the middle of the cola and inspect carefully in there.

Oh and I would forget about giving the side colas the extra shot of nutes. Just keep flushing them the whole time.

yea thats exactly what happened mared, but with not having the internet i thought it was just a natural process as its getting near the end...Ah well its another lesson learned :)
As to the nutes,i was thinking of giving them a shot as they are staying under the light for another week or so after i cut the main colas on monday.Due to the size of the main colas, the side ones have been around 2.5ft away from the light pretty much right throughout the flower process, they do look nice and bulky now but im hoping they might blow up once the main colas are gone.

Well if you really want to do that then this is what I recommend. Before you chop (I do this every time) pick off a tiny nug and chew it up. If it's ready to harvest the juices from the bud will taste clean and pure like fresh water. If there's still nutes in the system it will taste bitter with a burning sensation in your mouth. It will also make you sick to your stomach LOL. So yea just a simple test for whether you have flushed enough.

It still looks amazing, you'll still have a pretty good yeild. I noticed you have your thermometer thingy on the wall, I used to have mine like that but now i have it in amongst the canopy and the RH is 15% higher than it was when it was against the wall of the tent (I'm no expert..lol).
I turned the tele over at 90 mins on wednesday and i couldn't believe it when i switched the radio on when i was going to work, my chelsea mates are so GUTTED=) you'll do Barca they're no match for utd...

hey krimezs Girls still lookin good, gonna be a nice harvest dude.

Any thoughts on getting a de humidifier??
I had a look around and found one for about £18, its the type that you hang up, it contains crystals that absorb about 8oz of water and then you need to plug it in for about 10 hrs to dry it.
dont know if it will work in your tent?? maybee you could get 2 and change every day or 2.
Anyone Know if these things work????
The advantage is its small and is SILENT. Thats if it works??

Krimez, have you had a look at that BUD ROT STOP from GROWELL???

IDK man, I got one of the real dehumidifiers and it pulls a ridiculous amount of water from the air every day. I have one with a 25 pint tank and I have to empty it twice a day (and that's on the LOW setting!). I don't think anything you hang on the wall will make much of a difference. You need to remove a lot water from the air. If you're concerned about noise you'll have to get a name brand dehumidifier. I've got a frigidaire and while it is definitely not silent it's not too bad.

Good evening all....ok i'm over it allready, looking at the plants today i am hopeful for around 4-5 oz which is not bad considering the 2 setbacks ive had.I think im gunna have to invest in a dehumidifier for sure.Again checked the 2 cola's today and all is well thank god.I came across that BUD ROT STOP when i was doing a search the other day,im thinking of getting it and giving it a try.The leaves are looking more amber today so it's chop chop and off with their heads monday WOOHOO!

Smoke report.
The first is the 1/4 i got off the first cola to go down, not much of a taste to be honest and the buds smelled faintly of hay..maybe i rushed it a bit,i thought it was gunna be harsh as it wasn't flushed but it tasted fine and there was no hard ash.The stone actually hit me before i'd smoked the first 1/2 of the joint...very nice :)
3 joints later and i was was wrecked haha....It felt awesome grinding one of my own buds up to smoke....Will get some nice shots over the weekend for you guys as i feel the photo's i posted last night were a bit cheap, truth is i was gutted and couldn't be arsed after throwing about 2-3oz away.
