Hello everyone, I'm new here and this is my first for growing and posting so thanks for showing interest on this thread. I just wanted an opinion or two on my first bagseed grow. I was sure that this was a sativa seed untill it started growing but then I thought it was indica because of the fat leaves, then I started thinking that this is somewhere in between both sativa and indica; IJDK. This seed came from Michoacan, Mexico :-$ Shhh, dont tell anyone;-). I am kinda puzzled because I am 100% sure that it's a local Michoacan strain but I looked high and low and did not come up with a single picture/answer as to what kind of strain it might be. To my knowledge, there is only sativa grown out there... unless the farmers are getting imported seeds (doubt it as they have been growing the same high yield stuff for many decades).

My plant shows the fattest leaves on the second real set and are gradually getting thinner and longer on the higher nodes... This plant cracked soil on the 22nd of June and the pictures included are from the 16th of July. I'm using: 24/0 lighting; organic soil from a lush local forest; 5 gallon waste can (brand new with four 1" holes on the bottom; using minimal amounts of Ammonium Sulfate fert 20:5 for veg, lighly sprinkled boiled coffee grounds (About 4 tablespoons) and mixed it into the top 2 inches of soil; 3/4 to 1 gallon of water every 3 days and mist everyday with a spray bottle (bonafont drinking water); started with single CFL 11w 2700K, added a 22W 4100K 1 week in, and finaly moved up to two 4' Phillips Alto F40T12/D/XPT 40w - 6500K as of yesterday when I seen the cotyledons with a hint of yellow (I know it's overkill but money is not a thing + if it's fem, I will clone her, if not then I'll do a new grow untill I do get fems. Besides, this is experimental only since I have never had a green thumb in my life and never cared, just smoked it and didn't ask questions. Either way, I will use it in the future).

So my questions are:
1.) Any guesses as to what we might be looking at? What are the possibilities?

2.)what are those tiny looking leaves coming out of the node-petioles intersection? Isn't sexing supposed to show when you go into 12/12? This thing is on 24/7 and shows signs of the 7th node wanting to come out in the form of 1/4" bunched up fingers. It's only been 25 days... IDK, I'm a noob.

3.)Do you guys/girls see any mistakes that I may be making? I dont know what I'm doing, I'm just following all of the suggestions from the countless hours that I have been reading (I'm not sure about the grounds though, it was suggested by my pops)

4.) How does it look? Color? Size? A-Ok?
...........................................................................................

I would LOVE some feedback from you guys, I'll make sure to look into your posts too. Thanks!:peace:

That plant is almost a month old and is very small for it's age. Basically it's the size of a two week old and I'm almost positive it's because of the minimal lighting used in the begining of it's life. Good thing you added more lights though.

Hey Man, yeah she looks good. Definately a looks like a Sativa.
The leaf things coming out is because that is where ur shoot comes out from.
Personally i wouldnt have it on 24/7, id go with 16/8 or 18/6, but its a debatable topic. i just find it stresses the plant too much and it can only consume 18 hrs a day max.
Hope This Helps.

It probably is a sativa like you suspect because of where the seeds come from, it could be just a different pheno...

I was thinking that it was small because of the 24/0 lighting. I have read in many posts that turning off the lights for 4 hours or even 6 hours makes the plants stretch out some. It does have 5 fully grown nodes and and the 6th is already coming in nicely + it has the 7th set of leaves at 1/4" tall... IMHO It's doing very well (but that is debatable). I want a short plant because of hight restrictions but I definately see it grow every day. It is height challenged but it is maturing nicely. I know it will double to quintuple it's size when I go 12/12. Thanks for your imput though. P.S. About stressing, I heard that cannabis is a type of plant that does not need rest like other plants. I was figuring that as soon as I see alternating nodes, I will change light color, timing, and type of nutes. IDK, like I said, I'm a no0b. Thanks for your reply.

looks like this one im growing from a bagseed its about 30 days old but seems to have taken on more growth near top im doing outdoor, so its probaly minimal light cuz its bein like 100 around here lately

OK.... I would First start with putting a fan in the room to keep air circulating if the plant grows (like ya hope) it will not have the strength to keep itself up right.....Secondly research adding Co2 to your room to keep the density of the buds high... And finally dont be over worried about sometime to much love can be a problem to... if your really are anxious i would wait another two weeks clone it put the babe under 18/6 light for a week the to 12/12 and flower the babe this will show weather the mother of the clone is a male or female. But by the looks of it the plants doing fine a little short for its age but you had mention insufficient lighting in the beginning.

Dude, that plant grew pretty big in 2 months and it's been chopped down already... thanks though.

What do u mean u chopped it? You should have kept it going. I came across a thread about a hybrid strain found in Mexico that is almost indistructable. It won't die even if herbicides are applied directly to the roots. This strain is coming out of Michoacan, Mexico. Just thought it was odd that yours is coming from the same place. Look into it. Otherwise, props. My first grow was exzactly the same just one more T12 than you have. Take it all the way. Its more of an experiment with T12s as you can't expect to yield much. I think I got 1/2 oz of 2 plants using T12s. Not much, but a completed grow. I now have a 400watt MH/HPS conversion, and I am so impressed with the growth rate of my plants. They are as big as a month old plant under T12s, thats double the growth rate! Good luck Xeno! Late...

Dude, I live in Morelia, Michoacan. It's the capital of the state of Michoacan. I know of the strain you are talking about. It's the type that is harvested year round so that the porkchoppers will be looking around October and find nothing. I'm not too sure but I'm thinking that it's a sativa x ruderalis, kinda like lowrider but much bigger... ruderalis comes from places like russia where there are sub-freezing temps and it still grows, even though it has no narcotropic properties. Anyway, had to chop it down because it had mad balls and didn't want to risk leaving any traces of polen in the area where I am (currently) doing another grow. :eyesmoke:bongsmilie

Oh, I knew it was somwhere in the Americas. lol Well since your so familiare with the strain, perhaps you could share your knowledge. Where did you get a hold of these seeds? From the local bud? A sativa cross that flowers in 8-9 weeks?

I never said I had this strain but it is from around here but have had plenty of it before I actually moved out here (may 20th 2009). I get my bud from a local dealer that has a direct connection to a farmer. Actually, I know I shouldn't be talking about this but the truth is that all of the bud that is handled here is regulated by the mob. But since I get my shit from someone that is well connected, my bags have been really fresh sativa lately, I even have to dry it out a little more sometimes (it's close to October and many farmers are already harvesting). It's a little spicy but it packs a mean punch, enough so that one bowl will get me as lost as some good indica without the stupid couch lock. I might get my hands on some of this other stuff during christmas or later after that. IDK, I would really like to get some for sure. On the characteristics on how it flowers, I'm not sure because I never asked. My guess is that it is an autoflower due to the fact that it is grown year round. I don't know of any plant other than ruderalis that does that so that is why I guessed on it's genotype.

the leaves could be geting thinner on its way up because of minimul lights.,.,.as it grows so hould the spectrum of lights.,.,with cfls more is always better.,.,

Oh, sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought that you can grow any strain year round if your near the equator. I just thought it was strain of choice for farmers because of its easy to grow and hard to kill. I got some swhwag ghe other day that had still had whole sugar leaves on it, and was more black then green! This realy doesn't have anything to do with this, but it just realy upsets me that this was even grown. I mean worse than ditch weed. Plus it had a wierd smell. Kinda like its been sittin in a gas tank. Grosssss!

Man! Don't smoke it! It sounds like you got some bud that' been sitting in the bag for a while and was put there when it was fresh. It must be mold and probably smokes worse than it smells... if you absolutely must smoke it, use a home made bong and don't use your good smoking tools. This shit can make you sick... I've had moldy weed before and it got me pretty ripped but I wouldn't smoke that if I were you:spew:. About the bud around here, it cant be grown year 'round if it's any ol' seed. The place to grow bomb bud is in places like Anchorage Alaska (my old home city). During summer solstice the temps are the mid 70's and low 80's and you get 19.5 hours of total light during summer solstice. The equator is 12/12 for the most part and it's pretty consistent.
