Yeah, I got some swhwag one time that gave me a headache just from smelling it, a straight diesel smell. The only shit I had worse was some vietnamese weed. Trash. I've got a quick Q, don't want to start a new thread. Well I'm starting grow #3, but my germination rate is horrible now. I'm using the same meathod I always have "paper towel". None of my seeds are popping. I got 2 seeds up that are already to weeks old. Seeds look viable. Not cracked, nice brown color with the black tiger stripes. They look like perfect seeds, but no luck. Ne help???

Yeah bro, shwag seeds that have been bricked are a little tougher to germ 'cause of the way they have been handled. My suggestion to you, as this is the way I do it, is get a nice lil handful of seeds and spread them out in dirt like in a 5 gallon bucket; say around 30 to 50 seeds, just a nice lil handful. Sprinkle some dirt over the seeds , just enough to cover them so that they can get as much air as possible but enough so that they are not exposed to the light, then wet it all down and place under a nice warm surface like direct sunlight. I notice that this is the only time my seeds will pop is if I place them under the hot sun or under a hot lamp like the kind you find in a food case to keep burritos and chicken wings warm (if you use any kind of lamp wether it be a halogen or a flood light, don't get it so close 'cause you might hurt the seeds further and/or evaporate the top layer of dirt too fast since the seeds are so close to the surface). Anyway, these seeds tend to open in hot weather... If you're lucky, you might get quite a few seedlings, if not, then you might have 3 or 4 like I always do. About the paper towel method, it's highly recommended that you don't do this method because dry seeds such as the kind you get in shwag tend to suffocate from lack of a regulated ambiance. Do it as mother nature does it, imitate her and plant those babies in soil or cubes if you're into hydro or aero. Good luck man. Oh, I don't know how much you may know but never EVER use fertilized soil like miracle grow, just use regular potting soil.

NICE NUGS RIGHT THERE... when i germ my seeds i get a glass cup and put room temp or a little warmer water in the cup .. drop all your seeds in the water and let them sit overnight in a dark warm spot... lots of ppl put on frig maybe with a box over it. then in the morning give it a stir with a spoon or somthing or your finger whatever... and take out all the floating seeds.. then place those seeds back in the warm dark spot and maybe give it fresh water after a day or so ... then just take them out of the water when they r big enough... last time i threw in 22 seeds and 3 floated and then out of the 19 left 17 germinated... and then 12 popped out the dirt so total out of 22 seeds i got just over half of them...

Thanx guys. I just checked my seeds and a few are popping, but seem to be having hard time. Instead of splitting at the "seams", there kinda hatching. lol. Don't know how much sense that makes. I'll chech in the morning and see what happens.

ehh i dont like to germ seeds.

i perfer to toss them in a pot and let them do their thing. i always get a 90ish % success rate this way.

they will take 4-6 days to sprout.

Cool random. I just threw all my seeds in the dirt so hopfully they sprout. Now, another Q. The 2 i have are about 2 weeks old. This is my first time using MH and I'm impressed. Both are 5-6 inches with 5-6 nodes. Well, recently the sativa dom. has been upset. Leaves seem to big for the little guy. They don't droop when lights are on, but when their off, the leaves droop to the dirt like saggy titties. lol I think I might be overwatering so I'll let the soil dry and see what happens. When I used floros the leaves stems were short, but under the MH they realy spread. Is this normal?

it looks like the plant is stretching. I'd not worry too much about it being an indica or satvia and worry more about growing additional internodes. I'd work on some topping or pruning soon to keep that guy bushier. Looks as if your growing space would be more compatible with a lower profile plant unless that ceiling goes on to tomorrow.

yeah i'm pretty high and didn't notice this thread continued.
LOL! It's ok my man, I'm not anal about my threads as this forum is all about stoners and fun :D... That plant was definitely a land race sativa which is not seen often anywhere unless you like to buy Mexican brick and plant the seeds:eyesmoke:

PS. Sorry for postin so many Q's in ur thread Xeno.
Nah dude, totally awesome. Anyone is more than welcome to derail my threads as long as it's important like you're questions. Now if you came in here talking about how your ass smelled after eating something funky when I'm trying to concentrate on something important then we will be having a problem Houston. About your leaves drooping when the lights go off, it is not a problem as all plants do this. I'll be nice and post a 'time lapse' video for you so you can see how it works :)bongsmilie:eyesmoke:

lol awsome video Xeno. They look like their bobbin to the music. lol Just wasn't sure cuz I always did a 24/0 veg, but I don't think its necessary under an MH. And heres a little rep for being so generous with your link skills lol I'm not sure who Grizzly was responding to but my nodes a very tight and compact. Its just the leaves come out so far. I'm sure its normal but I'm just not use to them doing this under floros.

Thanks for the rep man. I think Griz was talking to me about the plant in this thread. That thing has been dead for quite some time but since this thread is still going, some people just read the first couple of posts and comment, then read the rest of the thread and see that they are way off the current subject. You know how we do it on RIU, none of the threads stick to the subject at hand 100%. Oh, +rep for you for the +rep for me :P

Edit: I guess I already gave you rep recently 'cause it wont let me do it again. I'll get ya later :)

Yeah, I believe it was on that 2012 thread. Neways, got yet another Q. I'm 2 1/2 weeks in and I'm just wondering when I should start pruning the lower secondarey chutes. Is it when flowering is iduced that they shoot up for a spot in the canopy or do they do this in veg.
