Heyyy peeps hope ur all good! :)

This is just a general discussion and ur thoughts & not so much asking for advice what to do.

For many many years i have been running 18/6 light schedule during veg and NOT 24 hours straight. The reason I prefer 18 is coz it allows the plant to push back all its sugars into the Rhizosphere & beneficial microbes within the soil start getting used. IF you were to run 24 hours straight with no “sleep time” then your potentially “starving” the roots of being able to release the stored microbes back into the soil when its “DARK/ lights out”. I believe in my humble opinion 24 can make the plant less robust & less resistant not to mention possibly also messing with the TERPZ.. I think the plants need that night downtime to rest & toughen up..

Let me know what ya’ll are doing and why? And Thanx for taking up ur precious time to read all the above (::bigjoint:

After studying plants in biology it seems evident that plants benefit from a rest period. As we all do.

I've done both. There isn't any significant differences. I think my veg tent is on 24/7 right now because it was cold in the corner of the room at night and I wanted the light on to provide heat because I was starting a couple trays of vegetable seeds. The timer is back behind a desk and I've been too lazy to get back there and change it to 18/6.

Plants utilize nutrients and drink water durring the day to undergo photosynthesis, as a result of there efforts glucose is produced. It's durring the night that they use that accumulated glucose as energy and grow. In organics they will share a little bit with the microbes and give them a reason to for a bond and stick around. A symbiotic relationship if formed.

My take on it is that it is a living thing and it might not need it but probably likes a little break from the heat/light. I haven't messed with it much but have kept seedlings under 24 for the heat for a few days but I was struggling to keep temps up in winter. Other than that I keep to 18/6 mainly to keep temps down.

It's not that it might not need it... It definitely doesn't. It's not a human and to think of it as one is illogical. As mentioned before cannabis is a C3 plant and does not require a dark period.
