Like the setup..plants are looking tasty. I was thinking of doing a very similar carbon scrubber but was just worried about the back pressure on the fan. How's your air flow and noise level?
Can't wait to see what the weight comes out to be.
I was thinking if you rotated your light so it points front to back vs. side to side you'd get better light coverage

Hey. Thanks for the interest. Yeah the homemade carbon filter slowed the air flow right down. I think my main problem was I used too finely crushed carbon for aquariums. There is not much space for air to move through the filter. I want to get some 1.5mm tube type activated carbon which will solve this. It has certainly sorted the smell though. There is next to no noise, my flatmates have no idea and my old gf stayed with me and didn't suspect a thing. I definitely recommend the DIY job.
I tried mounting the HPS sideways when I first switched to 12/12. It only just fits that way and I think it would bun the walls being that close. Safety first.

Thanks Gumball. Helpful link. Comparing the 150W HPS to the 250W's stats I am sure I will get away with running a perspex cooltube. I am just exceptionally busy at the moment and don't have the time to make it and sort out the fans for it etc.. Besides the grow is in it's final few weeks and the temps stay at a constant 29 degrees c. Not dangerously high and the plants are more than healthy. So I think the cooltube will be a welcome edition to the next grow.
I am planning on only harvesting the buds from plant #2 and putting it back into veg state in order to use her as my mother plant for cloning. Any ideas?

i think that sounds like a good plan then. just keep her small and thinned out to keep the smell down, and you wont have to worry about carbon filters and you can cool easier. thats my only thought.

I have no idea how much I will get off one plant sorry. They are nearly fully mature now and from the bottom of the pots to the top of the colas are only around 30cm. (12inches) so they are very small plants. Most of each plant is bud now which is good. And my 3 main plants each have 10 colas budding away.
I would be very interested in hearing any guesses (from experienced people please) regarding how much I am looking at here. The buds are growing each day so it should be a decent amount. I hope your 150W Hps grow treats you well. If you have any other questions fire away Drmarten.

Cheeky comment. It is lights off at the moment but I will try and throw some new pics up here tomorrow for you to run your guru Gumball eye over. You want pics of the cola canopy of each plant? This should be interesting.

Drmarten. Try putting a tray of water in your grow room, somewhere where it will it is close to the plants. You can see I have space under the shelf my plants are sitting on, I placed a tray of water there which slowly evaporated up through the plants. I have stopped this now I am well into flowering. Hope that helps or gives you an idea. There are DIY ways for nearly everything. What stage is your grow at?

Hey Gumball. Took these yesterday just as I heard the lights click off. Might give you an indication of how much I am looking at harvesting. Plant 4 is a bit of an ugly duckling but 1, 2 and 3 are magic. Most if not all of the growth is budding up.

i see a lot of white hairs yet, which maks me think you have about 3 weeks left, so they will each probably pull off damn near an ounce, so I say 3 ounce, 24 grams. you will probably have a half ounce or better of stems, leave and otherwise scrap to make hash or something fun out of, if you so shall choose. so memorial day weekend, if your in US, you will be sampling some freshly dried herb, of course on its way to cure minus some nuggets!!

oh yeah, i love the pic of the green light. so you can just run the green light all the time and it wont mess up the dark cycle??

Hey again Drmarten. Remember that you are essentially growing a weed that will grow almost in spite of you. You are far more likely to kill your plants by overwatering than neglecting them. A good rule of thumb is to wait until the surface of the soil is completely dried up and then water them.
And to answer your private message, I keep my plants 6 inches from my bulb now that they are not getting taller. I kept them closer to my fluros during their veg stage and training. You really want to consider vegging your plant under 'cool white' fluros. The HPS will be difficult to train plants under while you are vegging. And regarding the smell I built a DIY carbon filter that I attached to my exhaust fan via some flexi ducting. I used a car pod filter and filled it with activated carbon which you can get at any pet shop. It is an effective method of getting rid of the smell. and real cheap. You should post some pics of your set up on this thread. I might be able to give you some points. I am far from an expert but seem to be pulling off a good grow in a tight space with a bright light.
Here is a pic of my set up, the filter system and my fan set ups for you. The black fan on the left is inlet, white fan on the right is exhaust which is attached to the filter. You will also notice a small fan with a cool air box in the top right corner which blows down onto the canopy of the plants.
Hope this helps you out.

Also note the box on the back of the inlet fan is just to stop the light leaks from the fan and has an open bottom with a basic carbon scrubber as a light, dust and insect/bug filter.
This is far from a technical expensive setup and has cost very little. You just have to think through what you have to work with. I am sure you will do well Drmarten.

GUMBALL! Your reply made my day. definitely put a smile on my face. I hope that your guess is a good one. It will be interesting to see the result come harvest. You are right in thinking three weeks left, that was my thoughts anyway. And yeah I know a lovely young lady that is a legendary cook/baker so we will boil down all the stems and leaves, probably even some of the popcorn bud into some form of delicious chocolate slice. Yum.
Nope, I am far from the USA, In my on small corner at the bottom of the world. I want to be a bit careful here as the police have just launched a nationwide operation targeting Indoor horticulture supply chains, shutting down every branch in the country and raiding houses everywhere. Interesting. Essentially crippling the backbone of the indoor supply industry here.

I do not run the green light constantly, I just wrapped a cfl torch with green cellophane to snap afew pics. The green light does not interrupt their ever important dark night cycle but I wouldn't risk running a green light constantly. I have had hermie problems before with this strain so i don't want to encourage these girls.

I am glad you enjoyed that! I may have to hit you and your lovely young lady up for some recipes! I am looking to either cook something up, or make hash from my scrap/trim.

That sucks about the crackdown in your area, hope you steer clear of that mess. I would never ask for specifics on someones location

I asked about the light cause I have to heat my box in the winter with lights out, and I do so with a incadescent bulb wrapped with foil tape to seal out light. I have that set to come on when lights go out. If I could just run a green bulb, that may work better and safer.
