Gas lantern is an old school greenhouse trick to grow tropical plants needing longer veg times. With out raising electrical costs in late summer to early winter. It is used for growing Poinsettia's for Christmas (as an example).I just read in someone’s post doing it like that would give the plant less stress so I thought ad try it
Indoors - you run lights for 12 hrs (in a greenhouse, the sun gives you a big chunk of that) and then hit them for another hr after 5 or so, lights out. So they stay in veg. Your saving 5 hrs (min) of electrical cost... In a greenhouse....That's a lot of cost! Now multiply that by the total amount of house's and it really adds up.
