hortilux-eye! i get awesome results with those bright things in my 1000watt hps. my buddy uses it too in his 1000watt hps, and in his 400watt - the 400watt is bright as shit!

exactly, everyone that only uses hortilux bulb says they are great, anyone that only uses sunmaster says they are great, hence the "word" on the street is whatever is great, don't listen to anyone on here unleast they have some scienctific fact. GL!

Hey thanks for the drawings but no help is needed in the grow setup...no offense.:-|

Just wanted some opinions on what bulbs people are using and which one they think is dominant. Anyone else?

Hortilux has better color but less lumens

the sunmaster has more red but more lumens.

hortilux 145k lumens
sunmaster 150k

you decide i have had great results with both. Sunmaster and hortilux should cost the same!

Hortilux all the way with MH and HPS,
Allthough I am using some Agrosun MH over the mums with nice results.

yeah im in the same dilemma.. i currently use 3 hortilux's and cant complain.. but im always looking for something better ;) im looking to purchase another 600w hps. The 600w hortilux costs almost $40 more! and 7k lumes less than the 600w sunmaster??? however i am curious of is bulb life?? ive never had a hortiulx burn out on me yet (knock on wood lol) anyone had any bulb life issues with a sunmaster? Thnx

Yes; my Sunmaster 400/600 watt conversion HPS failed me 10 hours ago. Used it with a Nextgen 400w/600w ballast. Got about 6 months life with this bulb....

bulbs fail for several reasons if your bulb is less than 1 year old most retailers will honor a warranty if you purchased it there

those are badass drawings! From what I understand Sunmaster has more red 10% or so and Hortilux has more blue and green. MH colors(blue) will add time to flower but the plants will be more compact and have more resin. Sunmaster has more red that would shorthen the flowering and have a higher overall yield but the plants will stretch more and be a bit fluffier. that said the numbers are very close(1-4day difference on finishing) slightly denser and slightly shorter plants. So the choice is yours, everyone will say hortilux because that is what they were told so figure it out for yourself, you need to change your bulb every 10 months or so, so does it matter? NO IT DOESN'T

I have used both. Sunmaster is a good bulb. But Hortilux wins hands down IMO...its all I use start to almost finish...

Bulk Hydro on ebay has 400 and 600 Hortilux Super HPS for 82.00 bucks with free shipping...and you can get a solid 9 months out of them before replacement. Sunmaster degrades faster after 6 months...
