1000watt SunMaster Vs. 1000watt Hortilux Bulb

Hortilux has better color but less lumens

the sunmaster has more red but more lumens.

hortilux 145k lumens
sunmaster 150k

you decide i have had great results with both. Sunmaster and hortilux should cost the same!
Advertised lumens means dick. They are measured in the middle spectrum were a bulb puts out the most energy. Mostly what the human eye sees. Yet has nothing much to do with a plants photo response which is mostly to the left and right areas of the spectrum. PAR rating are how you want to rate bulbs and Hortilux is still King of the Hill.....

i run an eye hortilux for hps and philips for cmh -i love both my plant love them both and i run them both sid by side
Be sure to have them at least 3 ft apart. If they are closer they can magnetically interfer with one another causing loss of spectrum or 'magnetic wash'. Thats why I never understood the 'Growzilla' hoods. Just goes to show Hydrofarm has their heads up their asses..........

Where did you find this information? I've been searching everywhere I can think of online and am seeing nothing about magnetic interference in the bulbs. Are you sure you weren't thinking of improperly shielded electronic ballasts causing interference? Please enlighten me. I'm about to start a duel bulb operation inside of a magnum xxxl hood, and want to be sure I'm not screwing myself over. Thanks!

i over lap my lights 1000 watts 2 1/2 feet apart never ever had a issue as for my ballasts i run them side by side with no issues either
Vertigo you will be fine

Ya I know the ballasts are no problem, I was just trying to figure out where he heard of this magnetic interference in the bulbs. I'm sure it will work fine, and my bulbs are working close to each other, I'm just wondering if I'm losing lumens or spectrum as he mentioned. Thank you though DrFever, glad to hear other people are doing this successfully. Have you noticed any difference in plant quality under the overlapping lights?

my first two years, i used a 600 watt galaxy and sunmaster bulb. i also used an ushio. i used the ushio, which is a whiter light for first half of bloom, then switched to the sunmaster. i think they girls like the deep orange color of the sunmaster. it looks more like "an autum sun". i currently have a 1000 watt switchable galaxy ballast, i got a deal on the "eye", so thats what im using now. i need to get a sunmaster, for the later bloom. but this is just my idea. given a choice, id stay with the sunmaster.
