Organics are generally concentrated compost teas made with things like Worm castings, various guanos, kelps, and naturally occurring minerals. The chemical nutes get most of the NPK and trace minerals from chemically combined "salts"
Which is an Ion + Anion forming an electrically neutral salt.

The Organics, if you distilled down the contents you could get back to some "salts" as they combine at random as (+) and (-) ions and anions are attracted to each other.

Here in (IMO) is an issue, as with the chem ferts we add these salts to water and in solution they disassociate and in and out of solution can recombine into salts which cannot be uptaken by the plant...hence the "lock out" The bacteria in the gut and during composting makes the animal wastes into soil like material that plants can naturally absorb as needed without your medium constantly looking for a stable environment (+/-). As the plant may use these chemical salts unevenly, an imbalance occurs not only creating newly combined salts (seeking stabilization), but first creating a fluctuation in the pH...I believe (again IMO) that the majority of "nute burns" are actually a pH issue followed by a lock out.

A plant only shows a few signs of stress and they are often a combination of several. I have been told that anything beyond the very tips browning is something beyond too much nutes, though it could have been the initial stressor that started the system out of equilibrium.

Also If you look at Tiger Bloom there is a bunch of EDTA:confused:

according to Wikipedia "The solubilization of ferric ions near neutral pH is accomplished using EDTA. This property is useful in agriculture including hydroponics, especially in calcareous soils. Otherwise, at near neutral pH, iron(III) forms insoluble salts, which are less bioavailable."

This tells me that as the pH gets closer to 7, big old iron salts are formed making iron less available, messing with calcium, zinc, and often what we think is the problem...magnesium.

Soils often have limes added to stabilize pH, and growers often use a pH of around 6.4. However Hydro is recommended and incredibly lower pH like 5.5. This along with magnetic pumps tending to drop iron out of solution may be the reason for the lower pH for Hydro.

This show where a small fluctuation in pH can cause some serious issues when using chem ferts. and how even doing straight watering with unadjusted neutral pH water (RO) can cause mayhem chemically in the soil.

This may also be why my veggie garden and many organic growers get away with using non pH adjusted tap water. On that note my tap is now at 580ppm right out of the cold faucet.

I believe I have just talked myself out of chem ferts

Sounds like it ;)

I will still use them sometimes though :D

Made me lol at the end of that small rant.

I'm gonna try the hesi range for my next grow, it comes highly recommended and will be nice to compare difficulty in use compared to Biobizz (which ive used before)

Definitely a favorite of mine. My Headband (OG Kush x Sour Diesel) is similar and still not tired of it.

just spent a grip of money at the hydro shop...hoping the beasty bloom n cha-ching will pay offbongsmilie:peace:
Damn I wish I could have save you some dough...I got a full bottle of Tiger Bloom/Mega pH Down...and the tri-pack of solubles (life time supply) that I do not want to use. Starting to believe the whole nute thing is a bunch of hype!

On that note, was at the local shop today to get the free tea, and they have a set up using "aqua"-ponics. They have a Ebb & Flow table filled with hydroton, with swiss chard and some other veggies. the reservoir is a 40 gal or so open "pond" with a few Goldfish. It is basically an Eco-system with the fish providing all the nutes for the plants and the plants filtering the water for the fish...way freaking cool.

Yes I do not see any difference from switching from feeding every feeding with Botanicare, and EO with FF. I like Big Bloom. Grow big is ok but strong, and leaves a heavy salt residue on bottle cap, so I can imagine in the soil. The trio is very concentrated and not natural based. I still kinda like the the trio, but I am sure that is in my head. Tiger Bloom is very strong and is super acidic, I hate it.

I am using some Blue Mountain Organics that I never really used. The bloom seems to not change the ppm more than a few, so I am suspect...I then mixed some veg thinking it was equally week and I needed to get some N in so I used a half T more and ended up having to make 2 gallons to get it to under 1000ppm...so I am in limbo. I am going to order Age Old organics and only supplement cal-mag.

I have read what some others on here think about the expensive nutes that we get suckered into buying and I think they may be right. Plants are not that complicated in their needs...they MAKE there own food!

I really hate to add anymore God status, but he really does grow nice buds...FDD uses only Age Old veg and bloom and grows extremely healthy looking plants. Mother Earth News just did a spread on getting the most bang for your buck from fertilizer and though it is not by any means a cheap source...compared to other liquid prepared fertilizers. They rated them by cost per pound of nitrogen. They compared: Age Old Organics Grow 12-6-6, Maxicrop 5-1-1, Frti-lome fish 5-1-1, Fox Farm Grow Big 6-4-4, Earth Juice 2-1-1, and TeraCycle .03-.002-.02.

Cost/pound of Nitrogen: Age Old $46.50 (lowest), Fox Farm GB $79.70, and TeraCycle $16,987 (highest)

To put this into perspective of the outrageous cost of premaid liquid fertilizer...Soybean meal (7-2-1) $4/pound N

Incidentally, I have a big bag of Dr Earth Organic Veggie fertilizer (granular) and it has instructions for mixing 5 cups/5 gal and letting sit 24hrs, straining and mulching solids around plants and then 1-2 cups of this tea...I want to try this but I am too chicken shit!

Oh and I got the trio for $17 a piece:cry:

Out of big bloom grow big tiger bloom and the soluables, ONLY Big bloom is organic, but it has no OMRI certification. Grow Big is natural based but ammended with non organic sources of trace minerals. Tiger bloom has some worm castings and kelp but mostly chemical stuff. The trio is miracle grow made by hippies. Their soils are organic and they make some granular organics for the lawn and garden.
