i have space for both setups and will be able to control temps with either design that i go.

given a veg time of about 6-8 weeks, what would yield more?

60 plants under 600 watts or 20 plants under 1000w

I would say it will be exponetially cheaper to buy 6 1000s but if the budget isnt an issue i believe the 10 600w lights would be more efficient and better and more even light distribution, 600w hps is the most efficient hps bulb and best lumens per watt, and 6-8weeks veg time both sides of your parameters there would be way more veg time then you want if you were planning on a hydro set up, especially dwc... 60plants from clone 2 months later would be 2ft tall in a dwc or a flood n drain set up, if its a soil grow you could get away with 6-8weeks no problem but then still the 60 count would be a dauntless task to keep up the pruning and training. What size is the room? 12x12? 14x14... its alot of light and cooling for anything smaller then a 12x12. I would go for a 20 plant count and buy the 10 600w lights, or 10 1000w lights instead it would be more ecpensive in initial investment and in your power bill (almost double) but you stand to have a much bigger yeild from 10 1000s. If 6k watts is the limit then the 10 600s in my opinion are best most efficient and far cheaper to buy bulbs for, 60 plants is alot of time and effort 20 is less, the canopy would be the same either way because you have what you have for room but much easier to maintain less them more and less plants doesnt mean less herb just means veg times have to be figured in as an average so you got your timing and im assuming a garden that size will continue to flower back to back cycles yes?

10 x 600 will cost more and have more lamps to change out but will give a better spread and a little bit more light (600's are more efficient). Either way you go it's gonna be about the same amount of canopy and therefore yields will be similar.
