you want your bend to be early where the stems are soft and flexible where as in the late flowering periods it is harder to bend to a desired state because it might snap, although it is possible to still bend in the flowering period

veg your plants just enough so when they flower, the tops wont be burnt your lamp.

yes it will automatically start to flower. you will see a violent change in the next weeks. most growers prefer using 18/6 or 20/4 for a higher yield but 12/12 is fine. A 12/12 will just provide less light to the cannabis which hurts the final yield
