    Culturing Beneficial Microbes

If you're like me, you enjoy adding quality "benes" to either your soil or hydroponic system, but are dismayed at the costs. For a small investment, you can set up your own bene nutrient culture system. I typically like to add some Bacillus sp. bacteria (Subculture B by General Hydroponics)...

    Mixing Nute For Target EC

So here's the question as I'm setting up my Ebb & Flow system: Tap water is great, nice & soft w/ a background EC of 0.5. Using Ionic Grow per the recommended concentration gives a total EC of 2.0, less the background of 0.5 for a net EC of 1.5....just about right, as I'm trying to hit and...

Light Mover Pause Times: Opinions Needed

Searching the threads on light movers, there's not a lot mentioned on pause times, so...who does what? I've got mine set for about a five second pause at each end as the light is fairly close to the canopy. Running 1000K on a large Adjust-A-Wing with a Light Rail 2.0 over 32 5 gallon soilless...

Green light bulbs: do they truly not interfere w/ the dark cycle?

I designed my grow room w/ auxiliary lights (3 incandescent fixtures) so I could have green light bulbs to light the room should I need to work in there during flowering. Only type available were the green CFLs from Home Depot; has anyone used green CFLs in their room w/ satisfactory results...

Veg Supplement: Advice & Experience Requested

I've combed the threads and conducted a search, yet still not finding a thread on general supplements used/recommended for vegetative growth phase. Currently growing in ProMix, using Flor Nova grow. Plants were transplanted from Solo Cups into final pots six days ago. Will begin regular nute...

My Version of Brewer's Yeast CO2 Generator 4 Clones: PICS INSIDE

Here's my version. It's simple, and needs only a plastic 5 gallon water cooler jug, air pump w/ airstone (not critical, but provides for more vital yeast growth), cap, 2 packages for brewer's yeast, and about 6 feet of 1/2" ID tubing. I also use an aquarium chlorine/chloramine eliminator for...

ppm measurement: total, or adding source water ppms?

What I mean is, my water is about 250 ppm total solids and I have a recommendation to set my nute point at 1000 ppm. Does that mean 1000 ppm TOTAL, or 1000 ppm + 250 ppm = 1250 ppm TOTAL? thanks for the views

Well, You've Wasted Another Perfectly Good Weekend Working on Your Grow

Been that way ALL weekend, EVERY weekend for over a month ever since I put in that 3 day-er that finished the main room. Yesterday was setting up an industrial HID fixture in a spare room; might use it to experiment w/ a small DWC unit. Today I have to repair the nute reservoir and get the...

Let's Play "Get High & Go to The Dollar Store"

One of those fucking dollar stores just moved into the strip mall on the corner. Oh well, there goes the neighborhood. Might as well power down a trio of HUGE bong hits and go check out shit for the grow operation.

I'm STILL Practicing My Cloning Technique: PICS Inside !

Stumbled across the threads on DIY bubble cloners...gee, I wish I wouldn't have seen those threads: 125W CFL. Two 8" airstones, one for each group of six positioned long ways under each group. Heating pad set on medium. Not currently using pin timer; some thread suggest...

EZ Cold Weather Grow Room Temp. Control: PICS INSIDE

Winter's setting in. Main grow room is in the basement, so I wanted to control to keep the temp at 65F and above, but also to control the exhaust ventilation to keep the room below 75F. Solution was about $100 worth of supplies from Menard's. Bought THIS HEATER and two of these OUTLET...

    Ben Fold Five...on Tour

Caught the show Wednesday in Indianapolis at Murat/Old National Center. WOW ! Full house, and EVERY last audience member was on their feet dancing, cheering, and singing for the entire 2 hour show. So much energy and love coming off that crowd...fantastic. And did BFF sound great! Better...

I'm Practicing My Cloning Technique: PICS Inside

Described my first attempt at cloning HERE. Still ongoing, clones are doing fair. Did a poor job at taking clones from mother plant & trimming (cutting terminal end, shade leaves left too large, etc.), but found great advice by West Coast Cultivation . Simple & easy to follow, I set out...

Freeing Clone From Humidity Dome & Opinions

OK, it has been 48 hours since cloning. Placed 49 clones into Root Riot tray. First time cloner, so NO laughing please.: here's pics. Root Riot plugs moist, not damp. Dome dripping w/ moisture. Heat mat w/ temperature control. WHEN MIGHT I REMOVE THE DOME? HOW DOES...

Hot Shot Pest Strips: Comments and Observations

Been doing a lot reading in this Bugs subforum on spider mites; thanks to everyone who's posted a lot of good information. I keep coming back to threads that just rave about the Hot Shot No Pest Strips, and wanted to add a bit about how they work and how many to use. HOW MANY PEST STRIPS...

    My Grow Ops

Just finished my grow operation design and construction. I'm fortunate to have plenty of space, so I went w/ two rooms; one for clones or raising mother plants, and the other for bloom. Here's the Clone Room; a simple 5' X 5' closet equipped w/ 2 125W CFLs and a 44" T5 fixture. Currently...

New Mother Plants LOVE The Heat !

I put down four clones about three weeks ago. Three were rooted in Rockwool and the other in soilless. All were transferred to 3 Gal pots w/ ProMix after purchase and alternated: days outside in direct sun and nights under lights. Feeding FloraNova Gro at 2 tsp/gal which provides pH of about...
