Design Qs on small scale sog

I don't even know if sog is the right term. I do know that I'm tired of having plants get too tall for my small closet. I want to go from 3 5 ft plants to 6-8 that might get to 2 or 2.5 feet at harvest. So I'm thinking I want to do some kind of pruning, maybe not as severe as lollipopping, in...

Bubbleponics now DWC pulled the tubes...

Everybody knows bubbles have been used by dwc growers a long time. And if anyone wanted it there has always been a variety of drip systems using feeder tubes from above and gravity fed. The only reason to come up with something like a pump in the reservoir pumping water up for a week or so was...

First bubble, have a few questions

Isn't there a rule of thumb that says that for plants 4 ft and under, 2 gal per plant is plenty?

    Putting bubbles in your 'ponics

I fooled around with some aquarium pumps that didn't do the job before breaking down and spending $60 on a sunleaves. Well worth it.

    Putting bubbles in your 'ponics

Smile, Do you put seeds in the res as soon as they are germinated? Do you start with rockwool already wet or let the bubbles do it? How do you know whether the cube is too dry or too wet?

    Putting bubbles in your 'ponics

I've read that the mass (weight) of the root structure approximately equals the mass of the foliage. If that's true, the amount of water would have to be a factor in the size of the plant. If not, you could grow a six foot plant in a tea cup. But to each his own. I can say that this method works...

I am really stumped on what to do.

The buds on top are still small and just beginning to show trichs, it is the end of the 4th week. Not much would be gained from them, and I'm afraid that at this late date, secondary buds won't really fill out much to make it worthwhile. I'm considering an option of taking it all out of the...

I am really stumped on what to do.

Four plants in a closet, 2 have gotten to almost 4 ft tall. The plants cannot be lowered, the lights cannot be raised. They are getting up into the lights and still growing at 5 weeks into flowering. I've tried bending and tying as much as I can. But now bending over means needing more space on...

    Problem with too tall plants

It's not that I had a hard time bending the plant. But already, after five hours, the top is already turning up so in a couple days it might be back in the lights. My concern is how much more it will grow and how much longer the bend and tie method will work. I've never had a plant grow so much...

    Problem with too tall plants

I have four plants growing in hydro in the 4th week of flowering. Two of them are the height I expected but two are going crazy, still growing into the lights at almost 48 inches. I cannot raise the lights or lower anything and space is tight. The only thing I knew to try was bending them over...

If it's true we learn from fucking up, I'm going to be a genius

They are T5 flouros with red spectrum tubes. They work fine as long as they stay up there.

If it's true we learn from fucking up, I'm going to be a genius

Mistake #1 - growing 4 plants of 2 strains not knowing what the heights would be Mistake #2 - Not having enough grow height to be experimenting Mistake #3 - This was a major error - instead of topping I decided to just see how tall they would be on their own Mistake #4 - I wait till today...

Stealthydro bubbleponic system to DWC system

I did this and it worked great. Just spend some time adjusting bubbles and water level like IS said, and you'll never want to put all that pump and junk in your res again. By the way, it's ALL DWC. The idea that bubbleponics is something different is misleading. Bubbleponics just means you use...

Thinking about going bubbleponics? This should convince you...

I'm not at all convinced. Pictures prove nothing unless you trust the objectivity of the picture taker and his desire to run a fair comparison. Had both been done correctly instead of one intentionally done half-assed the results would have been different. Seems to me all you bubbleheads care...

Lack of vertical growth + rep

They are not short strains. They are in DWC with T5 HO lights and Humboldt nutes. I don't mind vegging for longer but from what I hear 5 weeks is typical to get plants of 18-24 inches.

Lack of vertical growth + rep

I have four plants of 2 strains that are 4 weeks tomorrow. They are very bushy and growing horizontally, but not so much vertically. They look healthy and have huge roots, but the tallest is only 9 inches. I planned to flower them in another week, but expected them to be twice this height by...

    Putting bubbles in your 'ponics

This is great! I hate feeder tubes that clog and the idea of a pump in the reservoir. Sometimes things are just made more complicated than they need to be, the simple way is usually better.

    Problem with Rapid Rooters +rep

I've started germinated seeds in rapid rooters and in less than 24 hrs the seeds have been pushed up nearly a half inch above the surface of the RR. It's as if the root is doing a push up down in the RR and can't get through. They are damp but not wet. They are under lights so it doesn't seem...

    Messing with rapid rooters

I guess I'll float an answer to my own question. Perhaps the RRs were too wet? They weren't sopping - about like I had rockwool. But for some reason it seems like the root didn't want to go down or couldn't and, like doing a pushup against the floor, it pushed the seed up and out. So many people...
