    LABS Question.....?

I eat the cheese sometimes. I crumbled some on some stuffed peppers on Tuesday from a fresh batch. I've made poutine with it too. It's not bad... just a little sour. I've even drank the lacto, given it to my dog, add some to my fish pond, compost pile...

    LABS Question.....?

I feed the cheese to my worms or my dog. Both love it.

    First full organic progress

Looks good. FWIW, I didn't have the best time with organics and cloth pots. Too dry around the circumference for organic soil for me anyway.

Banana tee - very low pH

I found it easier to dry and grind the peels into a flour and top dress. Be careful though, banana peels contain 40%+ potassium. Keep in mind that there are quite a few pesticides used on bananas... buy organic.

    CO2 setup vs Fan Exhaust

I went hybrid on a previous grow. If outside temps/rh were right I opened the passive intakes and turned on the exhaust fan. If the outside conditions were too far off I sealed it up and ran the A/C, dehumidifier and turned on the co2.

    Water treatment

I used calcium hypochlorite with great success when I was using recirculating drip and dwc. No chiller.

Connect veg/flower tent without veg light interrupting flower

If you use long bends then airflow shouldn't be affected much. Also, either purchase ducting that is black on the inside, or paint the inside of your ducting black to absorb light instead of reflecting it. My last grow was similar. Air entered the flower tent at the bottom and then was...

How much is too much calcium?

I'm using the calcium bentonite for aeration and it's high cec properties. Another reason I choose peat over coco as a base. I used special kitty non clumping kitty litter. Rinsed it real good and tossed anything smaller than 1/8" into my yard, then soaked it in pond water for a few days...

How much is too much calcium?

Ok, from what it seems I don't need to worry about the ca in my mix. Plus, I recently sowed in some of the BAS 12 clover crop, so I suppose I can get a decent gauge of how the soil performs based on how the cover crop does... I know it's not cannabis, but any lockout from too much ca should...

How much is too much calcium?

Yeah, it was buffered. Good looking out. It's not your typical coco coir. It's this. Conibo Organics Fine Grade Coconut Coir 40L - BuildASoil I rinsed the crap out of it. Removed any particles smaller than 1/4" (a lot of coco peat). Only used the long strands. Soaked in EWC, OSF and pond...

How much is too much calcium?

Absolutely, which is why I normally load up my soil with it (and my nutes when I was hydro). I’m just wondering where too much is. I’ve definitely created problems from too much n, p or k as most of us have at some point. I don’t THINK I have with ca. But I have had what I thought we’re...

How much is too much calcium?

Thanks guys. I don’t know if the calcium in calcium bentonite is plant available. My father actually recommended that for aeration. Yeah, I’m not ready to grow any weed just yet. My shed is almost done, and I’m hoping my soil will be good when the shed is ready so I don’t have to test it with...

How much is too much calcium?

So I've got a 30 gallon batch of soil that has been sitting over the winter with some pond liner over it to keep it moist and prevent rain from saturating it. Every now and then I watered it with some of my fish pond water sometimes with a dash of homemade lactobacillus or em-1... only enough...

    Smelly super soil??

AACT (if needed), oxygen and time. I just added some CSPM to my mix that's been sitting in anaerobic pond water for a month. I'm just going to let it sit for a bit. I'll stir it up in a few days to check. I've used recharge in the past and it works fine, but I'm trying to avoid adding...

    Compost/worm tea + banana tea?

I've mixed nutrient teas in my AACT when it's done brewing and I've seen no ill effects. This is purely anecdotal though. Banana peel tea is great.

    Organic Journey

My first grow was in the late 90s following a loosely followed soil recipe from 3LB on overgrow using coco coir and organic amendments. I grew in a 4x4x6 plywood box with no A/C in an upstairs apartment in the only bedroom in Long Beach, CA. I used a cheap magnetic ballast 400W HPS in a cool...

    Dehumidifier causing heat issues

Can you water cool it? I water cooled my dehumidifier by blowing the output through a computer radiator (actually 2, stacked) to pick up the heat, then a small water pump pumps the water (and heat) outside the grow room, then it goes through another radiator (actually 2, stacked) with a fan...

    Deficient seedlings?

Since those are seedlings I would just kill the mites by hand and use de. Sometimes neem can burn youglings. Good luck. They can hitch a ride on you so really, who knows where they come from. Mites don’t like dry, so crank up (or down) the dehumidifier if you got one.
