Is it me or do only a select few only truly understand soil and water pH!!!!

For the most part you are right... PH in soil is really not important to most public water sources, but in some cases, there are water sources with water PH 8.0+, as this may be fine for a while it will cause problems eventually if consistant. My tap water PH here is about 7 and is perfect for...

    Please help me with diagnosis.

Don't stress over it... let your lights run their normal times and forget about it... check back with it in the morning. You let the soil get way too dry, your plant is stressed and should be good in 24-36 hours.

How tight do you stuff yor jars?

I drop them in till tyhe jar is almost full, leave just enough room where I can shake the jar and the buds move around. Should never stuff them in.

    Batwing or parabolic reflector?

Especially for a 1000w bulb I would highly recommend an air cooled hood. This will help you direct the heat out of the grow room. 1000w bulbs put off a tremendous amount of heat.

    Lighting question

In realistic terms your 400w light (thinking HPS or MH) is good for about 2x2 area, with some bleed over to the 3x3 area.... depending on size pots you use, you will be looking at anywhere form 4-8 plants MAX... with 4 plants being reasonably well lit through flowering.

    Please help me with diagnosis.

Well there ya go... under watering is just as bad as over watering... depending on temps in the room, lights etc... expect to water that 3gal pot every 3 days, the bigger it gets and fills that pot with roots, will probably drop to every 2 days. Remember when you water to get a little run off...
