Hiking GPS Bear safety Water purification Food and Gear

I still had my food bag in the car from hiking this week. This is after the trip, so I did not do a good job of packing food. But in my defense, my wife did give me all sorts of cooked food to eat the first day. The break down. Wraps and a 50/50 mix of peanut butter and Nutella, tuna and...

Bushcrafting, the weed addition: Bugout patch

I'm a little sore, but amazingly, no long term damage. I can't take any credit for a good fall. I went down so fast I hit the rock before I had time to react.

    Patagonia Sleeping Bag

Nice bag. I have looked at them, but I'll have to keep rocking my Eastern Mountain T{something} down bag. It's heavy at 2 pounds 4 ounces, but it was 9 bucks at Goodwill. Although right now it's even too hot for my Walmart 40F bag. I was on the trail a couple of days last week, and all I carried...

Do any of you guys use the Sawyer Squeeze filter? I have always used Aquamira drops, but am thinking about getting a filter.

Hiking GPS Bear safety Water purification Food and Gear

I'm an ultra tight hiker. Most of my gear came from Walmart.com, or thrift stores. Here is my latest cookset. 12.6 ounces with half a bottle of fuel.

Hiking GPS Bear safety Water purification Food and Gear

Hey guys. I'm a hiker down here in NW Florida. I've done some section hikes on the Florida Trail, and have a few trails made around my farm. I hope to thru hike the AT one of these days. I have two major handicaps that are holding me back. A wife and a job.

Setting plants in direct shade for few days cause to early flower?

Pretty sure it was the change in light hours that made them flower. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

    Good Morning/Weather Report Suite

Good afternoon. At 1300 it's partly cloudy, 91F {HI 114F} with 77% humidity. Forecast high/low of 88/72F with 20% chance of rain. We ended up with one inch yesterday. There is a pretty bad thunderstorm that came in from the gulf, but it looks like it's going to pass south of here. Moving at...

Bushcrafting, the weed addition: Bugout patch

I failed to mention my little tumble. Like I had said, it was really hot this week, so I decided to walk up the little creek by my campsite. It started out with a sand and gravel bottom for the first mile or so, but went through a long stretch of sandstone bed. The sandstone was level, and the...

    SIP thread -- (Sub-Irrigated Planter)

@Humanrob Maybe there is a trace mineral or something you could add to your soil or ferts to get stronger branches. Do you shake them, or use fans to keep them moving in veg? That is supposed to help with branch strength. Never grown indoors, so no experience with that sort of thing. My stem...

anyone ever use oil dry for planting?

I do use it in my soil mix when my friend the chemist can get me a bag for free. Clay is heavy, so I only use 5 gallons in a 45 gallon mix.

Setting plants in direct shade for few days cause to early flower?

Don't be so quick to toss anything. Set them in your holes, and get the clones too. They will do what they do.

    Summer is better than Christmas!!

Hell, I'm still setting up raincatchers for this year. But that is good advice. I started digging holes the week of Christmas for last season's grow. Since I'm still popping seeds, I'm still digging holes for this year.

    New England outdoors 2017

Down here in Larry Land, we got 20 odd days of rain and no sun in June. Some of the BIL's plants started to flower. He pulled 3 males showing balls. And on a BIL related subject. Last week he told me that he hadn't pulled up his Spring crop plants. He cut off the buds and let them re-veg. They...

    Guerrilla 2017

I grew with friends when I was young. Never again. It was just like you described. Or worse. I did kind of have a partner for my Spring crop. The BIL provided the veg location and electricity, and I provided the soil, seeds, pots, lights and ferts. We split the plants 50/50 at the end of veg...
