Never grown outside before question or two

There is still time. Vegging them inside is a good idea. You can treat it like a spring crop. Veg until the nights are long enough for it to flower outside. I did Fall/Winter seed testers last year, popping seeds in October and November. I killed most of them, but the ones I let go got an ounce...

Hiking GPS Bear safety Water purification Food and Gear

Nice view. If I ever decide to post to YT, I'll let you know. One of the AT thru hikers I'm following this year just posted a video about folks coming up to him on the trail, and fucking with him, thinking they were being funny. His Channel has caught a wave and he has 2K+ subs and views. I...

Hiking GPS Bear safety Water purification Food and Gear

They are real popular with AT hikers. But the full sized one, not the mini. Flow rate is way slow on that one I hear. My only concern about filters is that if they freeze, they might not be actually filtering your water, and you have no way of knowing. But then unless I go north, that is not a...

    Open Show and Tell 2017-18

That sucks. Glad you got some seeds first. When they log, is the forest replanted, or do they just leave a few trees for natural reseeding? That would be good growing in a couple of years. either way. I had a scare last year. Guys came in to cruise the timber where I had the three KP patches. I...

Getting ready for 2017 starting indoor going outdoor

When you use the buckets in water like that, you have to use good light potting soil in the bottom how ever deep the water is. I had my water too deep, so it got in to the real soil mix with all the manure composts and what not. Then when it rained everyday, the soil in the whole bucket got too...

Getting ready for 2017 starting indoor going outdoor

Here is the real RGGS. I need to just go ahead and do it this way, but I'm not good at time management, so my plants always get too big too soon, so I have to knock something together.

Getting ready for 2017 starting indoor going outdoor

That is my redneck raingutter grow system. Tomatoes really kicked ass for a month or so. Then we had 20+ days of rain and no sun, and most of them have cashed. I picked a lot of tomatoes. Pruden's Purple, Brandywine and Yellow Pear. I have 4-5 on the porch that are still doing well. Might try...

    Good Morning/Weather Report Suite

It hasn't rained so far today. I have had a few rumbles of thunder, and it's getting dark out. Looks like a thunderstorm is on the way. At 1835 it's mostly cloudy, 79F with 90% humidity. Forecast high/low of 86/72F with 30% chance of rain.

    Doc's Dank Seeds

DC, when I'm on the trail that would be a butt pad lock, right? That is when you know you need to get up and put your tent in the pack, but you just don't care.

    Kicking MS to the curb

I grew up on a cattle farm. We killed our own beef {and pork}. We did put them in a pen for the last month or so to feed them corn, but they had grass for most of their lives. I had so much beef as a kid, I hardly ever eat it now.

    Grasshopper problem

That is not too bad. I had entire plants stripped down. Most of the time, if you can get your plants up a foot tall, they won;t kill them. I have to keep my sprouts in my screen room."

    Kicking MS to the curb

I try to stay away from corn unless it comes out of my garden. And it never last long enough for me to get too much. They do still use corn to fatten hogs with.

Bushcrafting, the weed addition: Bugout patch

Just a little black snake, but she would have never let me hear the end of it. We had gone down between two rows of pines, then turned up the edge toward the house. The woods side is really grown up, so bushes were hitting the windshield, then slapping at her. She is not a fan of snakes.

    Kicking MS to the curb

The wife made some salsa from my peppers and tomatoes. She had tortillas on her shopping list, and she came home with Frito scoops. They were so good, I almost forgot about the salsa. But she is making more salsa today and we still have half a bag of scoops.

The Best Songs of the 1980s

It was 1979 when I first heard the Dead. Sister had this album, and I just about wore it out. Now I have so much of their music I don't even have an accurate catalog of it all. 15-20 CD's, but mostly shows recorded off The Grateful Dead Channel on SXM onto DVD's. I have a few hundred shows. But...

    What Are You Listening To?

I always think of BT as a "newer" band. This was 1994, so maybe I'm just an "older" listener.
