I am playing around now with taking my flat iron plates out of the flat iron and fixing them to a plate 1/4 inch plate on the back where the press comes down on and a 1/8 inch plate on the heating surface.

well the problem I encountered with the plates, is they are not milled perfectly to the size of the coil, which is hard becuase the coils vary in size themselves, so there is a bit of a air in the milled out area, the coils are loose inside, they do have a set screw so they don't fall out. but...

I am here to answer questions and show people how they can make these presses for a fraction of what all these companies are charging. Anyone looking into having plates made, call your local machine shop and talk to them they can make plates dirt cheap with a fast turn around.

a 1 ton press with a 2.5x2.5 plate will give you 320 psi 2x2 will give you 500 psi 2.25x2.25 395 psi

the other name brand ones are made a little better like the handle on the hf is a little weak, but that can easily be replaced, and i would recommend a longer rod/handle or cheater bar to help get the force with less force on your end post up a link to the plates you are talking about... is it...

what flat iron do you have? I can try to find the video of a guy pressing 4 grams of keif with that clamp got a 70% return and what is funny you see the rosin technologies press in the back ground.

Math was my thing.... so for your set up with the 1 ton arbor press, if you use the 2.5x2.5 plates it is 6.25 surface area 2000/6.25=320 psi I would recommend the sheets of 1/16 inch steel they sell at lowes and home depo. Easy to cut through with the jigsaw and you can play around with plate...

high5 didn't make the plate 2 separate companies you also have to keep in mind surface area on a 4x4 plate it is 16 divide the amount of force, a 1 ton arbor pres for example is 2000 lbs so 2000/16=125 psi... rosin technologies plates are 1.75x2.75 = 4.8125 with 2400lbs of force 2400/4.8125=...

I don't believe it was the plates from Rosin Works I believe it was the pid controller from High5vape. You have to keep in mind surface area and how much force you are using when ordering plates from anyone, that is the mistake I made.

actually 23 it doesn't go down to 1 put it at 7 which is the lowest and it is weird, if you turn it up to 30 when it gets up to temp the light turns green but when turn all the way down I know it is at temp but it will stay red... also it has a build in shut off after an hour which is very handy

Thank you but like I side the plates and the e nails don't heat up like they should, so scraping that and going with a different company that actually makes temp probes for this.
