Absolutely they do but that doesn't mean you can hide the buds from light...I think the tradeoff is worth it especially if you have a lot of healthy fan leaves sticking outwards

Honestly I don't have pics but I def see it in my grows... the buds that have adequate light grow dencer and more tricomes than the larf at the bottom. One would think if light only matter to canopy that the lower buds attached to main stem would be strongest but thats not the case... the best...
