Straight coco vs 70/30 with perlite

Here's where my practice changes compared to soil grows. Soil grows I will give a clone a 4 inch pot for a while to stabilize it if I can't start a seed directly into the pot. In coco and perlite, I let the clone root longer and plant right into the 3 gallon pot. Even using a myco product with...

Straight coco vs 70/30 with perlite

With the perlite, you can use a fan to wick away excess moisture faster, if necessary. Won't hold as much water either. Find the sweet spot. Try different mixes until you find what works for your method.

Straight coco vs 70/30 with perlite

It depends upon your environment. In my last grow, I used straight coco. Worked swell. Sometimes seedlings won't penetrate if it's slightly too dry. I've had them push themselves out of the coco with just coco. Here at my new house, too humid. I use a 25-75 mix. Same results. different...

    Foxtailing

Only bad if you are stressing the ladies out. Otherwise, it's cosmetic.

    Foxtailing

It sometimes blows peoples minds when they start comparing Cannabis to other plants they know... The tendency to display as a foxtail is not totally bred out of cannabis, like it was with corn. Cannabis can always revert to a natural state. Corn is now corn, and always will be.

    Foxtailing

Yeah. ever seen the grass corn was developed from? it literally looks like a foxtail. But the corn cob has a different structure to the kernals. Kernals are calyxes.

    Foxtailing

Some landrace sativas express their buds like that. You can compare corn to the grass that came before it for a simplistic explanation. It's a throwback tendency - recessive genetics.

    Foxtailing

I've seen it several times. Usually on plants with very confused genetics. Poly-poly-poly hybrids...

    Foxtailing

That's healthy expression. No problem there, I don''t think. If it was the result of a stress reaction, you'd see the damage on the buds.

    Foxtailing

Foxtailing is a genetic trait that comes from the sativa side of the plant you are growing. Sometimes it is seen as a latent tendency, coming out as a stress indicator, such as when excessive light intensity triggers foxtailing. Sometimes it is a dominant trait due to genetic predisposition such...

How often do you switch strains?

You really should try to pick up some 100% sativa from a reputable organic grower. Most smokers are too young to remember them. There's a reason the word 'Kind' was associated with herb. :)

    Newbie

I take clones in the first few weeks of flower to give me more branches from the jump. Buds are compressed nodes. They expand when back in veg and branches grow from them. I use the technique all the time to get bushy plants. Only one or two strains in years wouldn't come back for me, but if...

Any advice would be great on anything

I had to devote an entire room to a 1000 Watt HID. Put a filter on the door to filter air coming in and exhaust out the ceiling to another room in the house. Fans move the air around and the HVAC system keeps the temps in the sweet spot. Rather let a 18 SEER HVAC system handle it than close the...

How often do you switch strains?

No, I wasn't criticizing. Merely suggesting happy accidents happen. :) Strain has a lot to do with finishing. It's one of those traits no one is selecting for. They just take what they get. I was just pointing out that by sampling lowers in comparison to the top most ripe flowers, one could...
